James Braddock vs Primo Carnera

Post by DrDuke »

Prime vs Prime,

Braddock with his Baer fight motivation and shape, Carnera of his championship times version.

How do you see this fight going?

If Braddock could lose to Loughran, and Carnera beat Loughran... I'd lean towards Carnera... Just too big for the likes of Jimmy Braddock.

Their fights against Schaaf could be arguments too. Yeah, I also believe, that Carnera would have been too much for Braddock.

Carnera would use his jab and right hands along with his size to manhandle "The Cinderella" and probably knocks him out in the tenth round in my opinion.

Minority opinion here. Braddock was bigger than is usually recalled. And if you are comparing fights against common opponents, let's not leave out their respective efforts against Max Baer and Joe Louis. This is prime v. prime (admittedly a small window for both). The Braddock of the Baer fight was well trained and disciplined. I think he beats Carnera..

Baer fight can be questionable as an argument due to Baer's alleged lack of preparation and motivation there.

As can Carnera's victory over Schaaf, who was obviously ruined by Baer.

I think Braddock was too smart and could chisel out a victory. But.....you can never sell Carnera short...and.....he was way way tall.
