It took yoka 9 round stop realize Allen has absolutely no offence and is basically a walking punch bag
I haven't seen the fight - did Allen throw many shots?

I follow him on Twitter and he seems quite pleased with his efforts - not sure that is a good thing. He gives it the old "I am 'ard, me" but these kind of fights wont do him any good.

I was reading it this morning? Guess that the comments were posted last night after the fight.

For his amateur background. I think Yoka looked poor until the very last round.

What was he doing trading with Allen in the pocket ?

Dave Allen is a hard fvcker and he can take a shot, of that there's no doubt. But, I agree, he doesn't want too many of these fights where he takes a lot of punishment. Otherwise it's going to catch up with him.
I don’t disagree - but you don’t get points for your ability to take a shot.

Watched the fight last night while half cut and...

Allen looked fornicating awful in there. A walking heavy bag.

Thought Yoka looked okay. Dont rate his chances against the other prospects though and i think Joyce would just walk through him.

Watched some of it on youtube, Allen clearly has the sparring partner mentality. He didn't look in the best shape either, which isn't the first time.

He had a bit of something going with Hearn, what happened there?

I wasn't able to wach it full. Not so exciting bout. Allen came there as an opponent, Yoka could be more impressive. He fought inside with smaller Allen allowing him to land some stuff. He should have shut him away from the distance.

dave allens ability to take a beating makes him useful. gets in some good rounds for guys without being any sort of offensive threat. allen just needs to keep rematching dave howe to keep his win-loss ratio passable to be sellable vs better opponents

but ya, hes the type of guy you watch out for. hes basically a take a beating specailist. hes still young and hasnt taken too many, but if he keeps going on....

tubby little Allen shouldn't be going ten rounds....it shows neither Yoka or Joyce have any decent punch power.

Yoka is certainly a cut above Joyce though but really they are both not worth getting too excited about
Yoka takes ten rounds to stop Allen which shows that JOYCE does not have decent punch power?

most people would get the point I was making.

Joyce laboured to wear down the punchbag Lewison in his debut ( an unusual ten rounder), since then he's been fed stiffs who have thrown their fights (I don't mind saying that).

Joyce punches very slowly and with obvious lack of power.

Yoka also seems like a light puncher.

Maybe so but he took far too many head shots there.

I don’t really understand why his camp turned the Dubois fight down, only to then take a fight with another prospect; presumably on less money. Maybe Fast Car had a word...

People on here are quick to point out Yokas flaws, perhaps Allen fancied the job and thought he could turn him over?

You are right and No pressure going in as a massive underdog and beating Yoka would of got him some good fights but IMO i think it must of been for the pay day tho.

Any idea of what he got?

Allen can probably still get 50k out of Hayemaker for a Joyce fight.

After than fight no chance. They would be out of there mind to pay 50k to Allen when that money could buy them a legitimate opponent to bring over.

Between 20-30k, career high pay day.

Received £10k for Ortiz, just under £20k for Whyte and similar for the Thomas fights.

He did. I saw a Hearn interview on IFL where he said he advised Allen the offer was too low.
Allen has claimed he cleared £9k for his Ortiz beating on a Hearn show.

let's be fair, they're poor purses. But he hardly deserves any higher. Supposedly a professional athlete but can't stay out of KFC. Only gets given these opportunities because he's got 'banter' on twitter. Never earned a thing inside the ring

Dave Allen was stopped in the 10th round by Olympic Champion Tony Yoka last weekend.

Yoka seemed to be trying some things out in the ring and using the fight to gain experience. He was never in any remote danger of losing the fight.

Allen came into the fight looking disgraceful and showing a lack of dedication. It was an all too common scene to see a fat heavyweight lumbering around the ring. Yoka seemed to show Allen too much respect and you got the feeling that he could have got Allen out of there if he had put on the pressure earlier.

Allen, who has very little offence, was hampered by his shocking condition in the ring and looked like a walking heavy bag. He complained about the stoppage but I don't think anyone will have any sympathy for a fighter who disrespects the sport with conditioning like that.

Yoka moves forward and will continue to gain experience. Time will tell how good he can be. Allen will surely have some more nights where he plays the role of fat punch bag for prospects.
