Terrell Jamal Woods

Post by Gnome »

Is Terrell Woods the most active heavyweight today?

http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/583273

Twelve fights a year in 2015 and 2016, ten last year and eight so far this year. Mostly losses but his taken a few 0s too. 66 fights under his belt!

Lots of respect for the man from Forrest City, Arkansas, who comes to fight week in, week out.

He probably wants to get away from the wife for some peace and quiet.

Has anyone seen his MD with Molina?

Would I be right in assuming he got robbed?

He actually doesn't look bad, could probably have a much better record, but I'm guessing he makes more this way

Woods is exactly the sort of opponent that I was thinking of when I wrote a reply to the thread about Trey Lippe-Morrison. Instead of fighting the Byron Pollys of the world who are destined to only give him a round or two of work he ought to be fighting men like Woods who will extend him & make him really work for several rounds & learn something.

Woods would also be a preferable opponent for Joe Joyce rather than the last minute fill-in European scrubs that he's faced lately. Again, at least Woods would provide more of an effort than his usual opponents & be more of a measuring stick for him.

loads of fights, rarely stopped, some upsets and close losses...basically like a us version of a uk journeyman. usually the journeymen in the us with big loss records just crumble after a round or two.

I've a lot of respect for journeymen like Woods. My favourites are Avery Gibson, Rodney Hernandez, and Kamil Sokolowski.

I figure it's one thing to take on a formidable adversary when you are a highly skilled, world ranked fighter yourself, but when you are a man of modest talents, maybe hold down a 9 - 5 job, and are continually facing guys who are on their way to the top, or are planning to be, this requires a great deal of courage and survival skills.

Where would boxing be without these unsung heroes?
