Sam Eggington vs. Peter Kramer - 30 June 2018 at Holte Suite, Villa Park

For the Vacant IBO Continental Super Welterweight Title..

Surprising to see Eggington on a local card.

This is the same Kramer who recently drew against Peter McDonagh on the Hughie vs. Sexton card

It’s a bit of a strange fight, surprised to see him fighting for an IBO strap rather than for a ranking title with one of the main organisations...

At yesterdays presser, he said after Saturday, he wants to step it up and leave the domestic scene, get ranked by the orgs etc. I didn't think he meant IBO.. But we'll see who he fights in September. He might not surpass Euro level, but he's still extremely young and had gained experience early.

Who does he think he is to leave the domestic scene like he's above it? What is it with these British fighters sneering at the domestic scene?

It was only two years ago that he got dominated by Bradley Skeete, yet he is above the domestic scene? He is isn't above the domestic scene and I'm sick of this awful attitude from these domestic fighters. It's the attitude of losers.

I suspect he thinks he is someone with the tools required (the ability to compete and the promotional backing) to do so.

Maybe he does, but he isn't really above domestic level, especially at light middleweight were he has proven nothing.

A fighter can have higher ambitions without ignoring the domestic scene.

We have one of the very strongest domestic scenes in world boxing. It's nothing to look down on.

Kramer got lucky to get the draw if I remember rightly. There are bigger fights out there domestically for Eggington don't like the fact that he's going down the IBO route

The card isn't being promoted by Hearn. Hearn would have gotten him a inter-continental vacant belt or something

He’s still Barry’s favourite. Not many boxers of this level were invited to Barry’s 70th.

It was just sam wanting to stay active and barry wanting him to do ten in his home town and not a six somewhere miles away. The opponent is what we could get with no tv and a relativly small arena.Sam could have waited for a bigger show like sept but likes to stay active by fighting. Regarding the domestic scene hes always looking for the next challenge when ever hes won a title be in british commonwealth wbc inter or european hes always been about chasing the next belt and a challenge. His ambition now is to fight in america in some big fights and enjoy it win or lose. Its not about being above it but wanting to go after stuff he hasnt won already. It would be nice to be involved in title fights on big cards everytime but with the amount of good fighters vying for those spaces its either wait and be inactive or take lesser fights every now and then and get out there.

Na. Definately not live. Might be able to catch some ringside camera action later on.

Was a really good show we try to put on proper fights at the villa and sometimes we get losses but the fans always seem to enjoy the shows and it doesnt do the lads too much harm.I cant remember the last time we had a show without a loss to be honest. Two or three of the fights the home side won were only by a point as well. Sam got an outing in front of his home fans and is really enjoying the new weight. Was good to have barry at ringside supporting him as well.

Why is Barry such a fan? That’s a big compliment a man of his status going up there on a Saturday night to watch a small hall show.

Mick he took a liking to sam early on then sams attitude with fights etc ad barry loving the fact he found someone nobody thought would get past area level and has got him british commonwealth intercontinetal and european titles keeps the fun journey going. Fair play to Barry he didnt just come for sams fight he turned up at 6.30 and missed only the first undercard fight watched the rest mingled with the fans all night and even went out to the changing rooms a couple of times to have a chat with lads whod hed enjoyed watching (which the lads loved as you can imagine) Also at the nd of the night sam auctioned his fight gloves in the ring for a cancer charity expecting to get a few hundred quid.Barry got into a bidding war with one of sams sponsors and after winning with a bid of 2k had a picture with the gloves then placed them round the other guys neck and said there you go so everyone was happy.
