There's a lot of folk out there who seem to be preoccupied with Deontay Wilder's bank balance.
It should not matter one jot what his previous biggest purse is; he is more than entitled to chance his arm & ask moneybags Team Joshua for 50%.
The talk is that Joshua is the A side & Wilder is the B side, but that isn't necessarily true.
Yes, Joshua is the A side, but Wilder is the AA side.
Wilder may or may not be able to draw flies to shyte, but that doesn't matter; he has something that Joshua wants & needs & he is the most dangerous opponent for Joshua right now, so he's entitled to try & get the very best deal he can.
I couldn't care less about purses & splits etc, I just want to see a heavyweight superfight & this is the biggest HW fight at least since 2011; it is arguably the biggest HW fight that really means something since Lewis v Holyfield 2 in 1999.
I would just like the fight to happen before we end up with a modern Lewis/Bowe situation whereby a hot fight dissolves into nothing because one or both them get taken out in the coming years.
no sh!t money is going to be talked about, becausue its a huge part of whether and when the fight happens. surely you dont fail to grasp that. and hell, deontay can ask for 100 percent if he wants, thats his right, but it certainly wouldnt reflect the value he brings financially to the fight or a realistic figure given how much less money he generates then aj
I get it completely & I understand that boxing is a business, but my main point is to fans saying things like Wilder isn't worth it, or his biggest purse was $2 million (or whatever it is) & that Joshua should move onto Povetkin if Wilder asks for more than they think he's worth.
This is the biggest HW fight for years & it is just that partly because of Deontay Wilder, the threat he brings & his trinket, so there can't be a fight fan on Earth who doesn't want to see this as soon as possible.
What is Wilder meant to do?
Is he meant to accept, say, $5 million for arguments sake, come over here & fall over in 2 rounds like Charles Martin, whilst Joshua makes 5x that, then take the money & run, or should he be trying to take as big a piece of the pie he can & at the same time, give Joshua the fight of his life?
I just get frustrated when fight fans say stuff like that, because they sound more like promoters & managers than actual fans & ultimately, we as fans have the power.
If we stopped buying tickets & PPVs, the managers, promoters & TV companies would soon get their acts together & put on the biggest & best fights & I believe that's what we as fans should be doing & not doing their bidding for them.
