Degale Vacates IBF

Post by MarkMcBurney »

Just announced by him on Twitter, says he's chasing big fights.

No doubt avoiding Uzcategui. Could be some legs in the BJS rumours.

Because he doesn't want an ORG to dictate his 'later career'.. That's going to be his excuse. He want's to choose who he fights.

At least he went back in the ring with his shoulder fixed properly and settled it with Truax, respect for that.
Now, what is bigger than tossing a belt away for?

His next fight had better be for good money as a step up from Truax and he's getting beat.

Uzcategui would've done him in anyway. He looks shot to shît. Eubank Jnr maybe? That would probably earn him a few quid before packing it in?

On ITV Box Office. :TU:

Thing is, let's say he fights BJS next in sept and loses, can he still make big money straight after by fighting Groves? Eubank Jr.? or would be need to 'win a few first' and gain credibility.

I actually think he peaked the night he beat Smigga in front of a sold out arena full of Scousers. It was life and death, and when he pulled that out of the bag, the only way was down. Smigga took a lot out of him that night. More than Jack.

Has to be BJ Saunders. Can't see it doing well at all especially if they go down PPV route.
Would have to be a stacked undercard. DDD vs Webb & Yarde vs Bugloni & Fury vs Briggs. That would sell Ok i suppose but Waaren is great at bringing in unknown eastern Europeans and trying to pass them off as better fights.

Clearly duckung Uzcategui, I don't blame him but seems a bit hypocritical given the crap he gave Froch when he retired.

People always change the tune when and where it suits them. I don't think he wants any part of Uzcategui either. I would of thought he would of looked to keep the belt and hope groves beats smith to set up the rematch with Groves for the belts but he obviously don't fancy his chances of keeping the belt himself

He must have some big offer to have done this. I don't think Saunders is that big a fight though. Especially after Billy's recent (fake?) injuries.

Degale's nice bloke with an over inflated view of his own importance.

what the hell is happening with groves - smith btw?

if groves not fighting smith next i gotta admit i wouldve still liked to see gg-degale 2 as a unification, guess no shot at that now

Don’t underestimate what 9 rounds with Smigga can do to a man.

He had a good run post winning it, but surely if he is going after the big fights then he would have been better off staying as a title holder.
