EBU Rankings

Post by JC »

Can anyone explain how the EBU rankings work, three main questions really,

Do you automatically get ranked when you win a national title?

Do certain country's national titles carry more weight than others?

Can you fight for the EBU title without winning the national title in your respectve country first, are the rankings based entirely on the various fighter's records?

1: You dont automatically get ranked winning a national title, but often you will.
2: EBU doesnt make any diffrence between the different national titles. But if you lost a fight for the national championship then you cant fight for the EBU title in your next fight.

3: You can fight for the EBU title without winning the national title. Its only in a few countries that the national title means something (Britain, France, Germany and Italy) in a lot of other countries there arent enough boxers to give a national title any meaning. When EBu ranks people its purely based on records, not what titles they have won (except if its "world titles", then you dont get ranked.

Freiheit,
Years ago I remember reading the EBU classified boxers on 3 levels known as Series I, II, & III.
Only the boxers in the first series were qualified to be ranked.
Does the EBU still continue this?

Not anymore.
The french federation still uses a system like that. They have from GD to GA where GD is rookie pros.
