Re: Degale Vacates IBF
DeGale might as well box Eubank Jr.
It'd make him a lot of money. They could probably sell it on ITV Box Office. Also, Eubank Jr. provides a name without providing a risk, as he's not a proper boxer.
The only thing is, will DeGale want to deal with the Eubank's messing around? They are hard people to deal with when it comes to contract signings.

won money on Saunders and groves when they beat eubank but will be punting on a Eubank win if this fight comes off. Degale is shot and all that sitting on the ropes will do him no good against Eubank

Thought james was very lucky to get a premature stoppage against smigga that night as the tide was turning and degale was running out of ideas.
He almost certainly would of been pulled out by jim mcdonnell in the next round.

He’d never accept a world title shot he didn’t deserve mate he did it the hard way and fought tooth and nail against some of the best men in the world for every opportunity he was given.Taansend wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 14:33If only he'd been given a shot at a titlechiggsy wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 14:31No shame in having the hardest fight of your life against the best british fighter never to win a world title paul “the real gone kid” smith.mickey1975 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2018, 10:02

Surely he could swerve the mandatory for a unification? Makes you think no fight with Benavidez, Ramirez or Groves is imminent.
Saunders or Eubank?
Saunders or Eubank?
Re: Degale Vacates IBF
BJS beats Degale easy imo. Degale Vs Eubank though is closer, but I think Degale edges it.
Pretty disappointing that a sports man can give up the most precious thing in their sport.

Re: Degale Vacates IBF
Degale shot and wants a big payday before he retires rather than losing his title earning basic money. He could probably still beat Eubank, but not sure if that fight would sell on ITV PPV, Degale always done poor numbers over here and Eubank losing to Groves probably hurt his value as well. Would even a Degale - Saunders fight even sell?
Re: Degale Vacates IBF
Has to be Eubank Jr first. DeGale will think he can beat him easily. That then sets up the BJS/Groves fight. BJS first and the Groves
If he fights Groves first, he will lose and thats it.
If he fights BJS then he may win (50:50 but I think size will tell), then Groves. Eubank isn't an option, as he's lost to BJS and Groves.
Eubank < BJS < Groves. 18 months, and at least 10million in the bank. Winner winner, chicken dinner

IBF belt and all the others are just trinkets i'm afraid.
To be THE MAN you have to win the Ring belt. The only belt that matters now.
Boxing is crazy. You can be a world champion and not even be the best fighter in your own country !

Nope. That was an idea gathering pace for a year or two ten years ago but since the Goldenboy buy out nobody ever mentions The Ring title. The first mention of it for years was when Tyson Fury started rattling on about it.nobleart1978 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2018, 14:45

Re: Degale Vacates IBF
I think JDG is shot to pieces.
Glad he’s vacated. Uzcategui would of put a beating on him for little money.
If he wants a cash out fight, Groves would be the biggest payday.
Eubank Jr would be decent but DeGale on the ropes looks tailor made for the Eubank uppercuts.
Can’t see the BJS fight selling anywhere near as much as BT would think, unless the BT hype machine is able to finally match the Sky hype machine.
All 3 are good for his back balance.
From a boxing viewpoint I’d love him to jack it in now. He’s never going to get a more satisfying win than the Truax rematch now.
Having a big ego and being shot to pieces isn’t a good combination. I’ve got a horrible feeling JDG will be one of the many who go on for to long.
I see him still fighting in 5 years time being cannon fodder at fringe European or British level. He’s a big enough name to pad his losses out with inept foreign fighters inbetween.
Really hope I’m wrong. Good career DeGale.

Jose Uzcategui's Agent Reacts To James DeGale Vacating Title
“I would like to say James DeGale is a real warrior and a class act! James represented his country in the Olympics, winning a gold medal. He went in search of a world title and won it on the road in Boston. James went on to defend his world title belt numerous times even to the point where he gave up a tooth in the 11th round versus Badou Jack in retaining his world title in that fight,” Gibbons told BS.com.
“Jose would have loved the opportunity to fight James for the full belt but understands boxing is a business and no fighter is afraid of another fighter. James decided to do what was best for him and it was purely a business decision and Jose wishes James the best in the future."

Blatant duck because he is shot and would have been knocked out by Uzcategui.
I have no interest in seeing Degale fight again, if he has no confidence that he will beat Uzcategui then he is accepting he is not good enough anymore.
A fight with Saunders doesn't interest me at all.
Neither does a fight with Eubank. Eubank Jr is an Instagram boxer, he does not belong in big fights.

DeGale still has enough to school Eubank Jr, in my opinion.
CEJ more isn't a proper boxer, just a poser. He was exposed by Groves.
