Crap fight. He's ranked #45 on BoxRec. According to Fight News he's ranked below Brook in every governing body apart from the WBO. Are they stalling on jumping in against Charlo or Hurd to see if Smith can somehow take the WBO belt off Munguia so they can make Smith vs Brook for a world title?

Looking at the rankings, if Brook wanted to get himself in the number 1 spot then he should be looking at someone like Kanat Islam or Julian Williams. Brook vs J Rock would be a good fight for Eddie's US thing. This reeks of not wanting to take a tough fight until he absolutely has to.

Apparently Cook is ranked decently. But at this rate, how many of you are thinking you'd rather see Hogan instead?

Pretty sure I’ve never seen Cook box. What an uninspiring card.

He's promised a world title fight. But god knows who that's going to be.

Anyone see this being one of the poorest performing PPV cards in recent memory?

Probably the worst since Cleverly-Bellew 2.

Oh yeh. Forgot she had a world title. There was me expecting a male world title fight. But I couldn't figure out who it would even be.

I like the main event but it's not worth the PPV fee IMO. I'll still try and stream it no doubt but will watch next day online if I can't. The rest of the card is dross! Brook against a cabbage I'd not even heard of and Conor fuckin Benn! Garbage!

It was supposed to be a unification fight for Taylor, against Rose Volante for the WBO. Now her opponent is lower down the rankings and has recently lost to the last opponent to Taylor- Bustos. So that adds to the crap card :brick:

I've copied my thoughts on this card from another thread:

Whyte vs Parker could have been a vaguely acceptable PPV with a strong undercard.

This is very poor so far.

The Benn and Buatsi fights are NextGen stuff (nothing wrong with that, if they were at York Hall on a Wednesday night).

I find it hard to get excited about any Katie Taylor fights.

Hearn said Brook's next opponent would be "somewhere inbetween Rabchenko and Hurd" - Cook is worse than Rabchenko (imo).

I'm not going to be rushing to throw a twenty at Eddie.

Is anyone surpised? This sums up Brooks career. Typical Brook opponent. He will never fight Hurd/Charlo. At the end of the day hes got quit in him so hearn needs to find the type of opponent who wont take him to deep water. He will fight Khan next but will not go near the elite light mids.
As for the ppv.....shocking. not 1 fight is ppv worthy or needs ppv to happen. And the world title fight Hearn said would be on the card is Katie Taylor. If you were ever gonna stream a card this would be the one.

Seen Eddie's IFL interview. Using Cook's world rankings as the main reason why its a step up. Everything that's wrong with modern boxing. I'm not even sure this is a step up from Rabchenko at all. He might be a bit fresher but that's about it. How many actual boxing fans would have Cook anywhere near a top 10? Charlo/Hurd aside, your top 10 contenders at 154 probably look something like Lara, Brook, Smith, J Rock, Castano, Adames, Trout, Soro, Islam and Ali. That's before your Harrison's, Lubin's and Hatley's. I'd give the likes of Eggington, Cheeseman and Liam Williams a good chance against this Cook! I'd probably prefer to see Brook vs Eggington, even if Kell would smash him to pieces at least people know what they're signing up for. Instead this Canadian will be passed off as a genuine world class fighter. It's bollocks.

Absolute tell tale sign of a shite opponent when Hearn says "And let me tell you, he'll come and have a right go! He fancies this!" Having a go should be the bare fvcking minimum we get from an opponent of any fighter, never mind a former world champion who has been in with Golovkin. And then he'll say shite like "remember, he's only boxed 1 round at 154!" Probably because you line up shite opponents ya greedy bastard!

Exactly. Hearn is blatantly making sure neither risks getting beat while he needs time to squeeze every penny out of the cash out fight at probably Bramal Lane next summer.
