I have a number of of fights too... he had good mobility, but nothing special really, I've seen many faster boxers of that era who were better all round fighters too such as Tillis, Page, Thomas, and Williams etc... I could definitely see him beating a James Broad, or Tex Cobb. Unreal. It also happened once before in a big fight at the Garden in 1969. Former Lightheavyweight Champ Jose Torres ' opponent pulled out at the last minute and Teddy Brenner the matchmaker somehow found Charlie Devil Green sitting in the crowd eating a hotdog. Green took the fight and had Torres on the deck and almost kod him before finaly getting stopped. When Green got paid he wanted an extra buck for the hotdog.

My only question would be how was Green able to make his weight, or did they just let it slide given the fact they were in a pinch is what my guess would be. I think boxing might be different from highschool and college wrestling where they strictly adhere to the rules and you are given no leeway for being over the allowed weight limit.

Evidently there is a little more to the Green - Torres fight. At the end of the first round while Torres was down his handlers helped him back to his corner . The count should have continued because the fighter wasnt supposed to be able to be saved by the bell. Referee Johnny Lobianco missed it. Torres should have been dqd.

How anyone can say Blood was not world class obviously shows they dont know anything about him. He was one of the outstanding amateurs in the WORLD. Theres a few tapes of him as a pro, his debut Jerry Folly, Mel Epps, Jumbo Cummings, Tyson etc. He had had fast hands, sharp punching with good variety, a head like a block of cement. He was a top 10 contender but due to contractual disputes with DK & his own wacky ways never got going as a pro. He deserves credit for the Tyson fight as he is one of the very few guys who Tyson could not knock down. And its not like he was staying out the way like Lewis, he was taking every shot FLUSH!
As for Mike Williams that Morrison story is complete bullshit. Williams was never at the arena. He didnt even show for the weigh in the day before. Bob Arum & Morrison knew full well Williams would not be fighting but made up the whole Tomashek PR story to cover up the fact they hid the truth from the paying customers & were going to present a mismatch against a bum for world title ticket prices to avoid people demanding refunds before the night of the fight.

I am not doubting you...nothing surprises me in this sport anymore. However, what is Mike William's reaction to be casted as a bum who refused to fight...stayed in his dressingroom refusing to come out. The most common rumor out there was because he didn't want to take a drug test. Therefore, he would not fight. If this really was a snowjob by Morrison's PR guys, I think there should be some explaining to be done.
Has anyone found an interview from Tomashek, Williams, or Morrison reagrding their sides of the story?
You would think that because Tim did MUCH better than expected, he would have had some nice fights lined up on USA TNF or even ESPN after that fight.
