Alfredo Angulo vs. Gabe Rosado II - August 18, 2018 in Texas

BS.com recently caught up with Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (24-7) in Big Bear, California where the former title challenger is preparing for an August 18th return to the ring.

Angulo revealed that he will face Gabriel Rosado at a catch0weight of 165 pounds at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

The fight will headline a card being put on by Red Hook Promotions that has a Mexico versus Puerto Rico theme.

Angulo-Rosado is a rematch of their 2009 bout that Angulo won via 2nd round knockout.

Both fighters went in separate directions following that showdown - securing numerous high profile showdowns over the years.

Rosado was beaten in top fights involving Peter Quillin, Gennady Golovkin, David Lemieux and Jermell Charlo. And Angulo has tasted defeat at the hands of James Kirkland, Camelo Alvarez, Erislandy Lara - and also suffered upset defeats at the hands of Freddy Hernandez and James De La Rosa.

The 35-year-old Angulo hasn’t been very active in recent years and is coming off of an April split decision loss to former world champion Sergio Mora - iun what was a non-televised bout on the Erislandy Lara vs. Jarrett Hurd undercard in Las Vegas on April 7th.

Rosado (24-11) last fought in October when he stopped Glen Tapia in 6 rounds. That victory snapped a 2 fight losing streak for the 32-year-old - who coming in had lost a close decision overseas to middleweight contender Martin Murray.

I saw this on Twitter. Angulo already training. What a horrible, meaningless fight. Was Angulo's last fight show anywhere? The Mora fight should've been the one to put one of them into retirement.
