In case you're confused, that countdown is suggesting the thread is about to be locked Sorono, because it has been discussed with monotonous regularity.
People continue to grow. Heavyweights continue to grow. That's what the creation of the Cruiserweight division was designed to alleviate. That was then but now I have a lot of sympathy with the proposal that there ought to be a Super-cruiserweight division, but there are many threads on this controversial and inflammatory subject. We probably don't need another.

Just before this gets locked, is there really a size differential between Lewis, Bowe, Joshua & Fury?Sorono wrote: ↑02 Jul 2018, 21:06 Back in the old days heawyweights weighed as much as cw today or were at the border cw/hw. Later bigger heavyweight occured and now we have these giants.

At their respective bests, they weighed roughly the same & there's about 3 inches diffence in height between the 'shortest' & tallest.
Also, Ali & Foreman were roughly about the same height & weight, gave or take half an inch & a few pounds.

Not a great demonstration of six different weight classes, but maybe a pretty fun game.
Clearly there are six different regions of the United States:

It is a very good demonstration.
Marciano would be a very small hw. Standing around 5'10, ~195 lb
Than boxer like tyson or ali, 5'11-6'3, but weighed not much, around 215 lb in prime shape. Than boxer like foreman, tall and big. Than lewis, 6'4, 250 lb. Than this giants who are like 6'6-6'7 and weigh 260 lb+ josh or vitaly. With the final stage boxer like valuev 7'0, ~320 lb
You see 5'10 marciano against 7'0 valuev. Would be like thurman against usyk. Easily a difference of 5-6 div no matter hiw you put it.

Re: The heavyweight division consists of 6 weight classes
Then watch little Eddie Chambers beat and knock down giant heavyweight contender Alexander Dimitrenko, who is something of an Ivan Drago lookalike. Obviously these two have very different skill levels, but it goes to show that size difference matters a lot less once you go over 190lb. Chambers could have made the old 190lb cruiserweight limit for sure, as he looked chubby while weighing under 210lb.
Fury doesn't belong in the same bracket at Valuev - in-shape his fighting weight is about the same as Lennox Lewis and we know his height is exaggerated (probably in the 6'7" to 6'8" range).

Weight and height always matters. If it wouldn't than floyd could've gone up and fought and beat kovalev.jezzamundo wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 20:28 Then watch little Eddie Chambers beat and knock down giant heavyweight contender Alexander Dimitrenko, who is something of an Ivan Drago lookalike. In last ~25 years the #1 worldwide hw have all been very tall and weighed a lot. Lewis, vitaly, wladimir, joshua.

Of course it matters - I never said it didn't - but it's clear that size matters less the higher up you go.Sorono wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 20:51Weight and height always matters. Exactly. That's why I thought he deserved an explanation rather than a countdown, which I imagine would leave a newcomer totally bewildered.Sequitorian wrote: ↑03 Jul 2018, 09:00Then again ... people continue to depart ... while newcomers continue to arrive ... bursting with energy and excitement and eager to discuss this immensely important and largely unexplored topic! ... Yeah me neither.
If the cruiser sized guys would stay where they belong we would not really have this problem. We would also have one crazy good division.
