Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF mw title - who wins this and how ?
It could happen on October 27 on HBO Championship Boxing at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to ESPN.
I think Jacobs would get the job done.

Jacobs hasn't impressed me since the GGG fight. I don't know if he has slipped or only rises to the level of his opponent. So I would say Derevyanchenko.

This time Jacobs will have to do the same day IBF weigh-in, so his size advantage won't be that huge. I still have him winning a decision by being bigger and being a real hometown guy vs Derevo being a foreigner training in NY.

jacobs wins, speed and length will get him there. derev is solid but basic and has no real standout talent. a bit like ggg but with far less power
Re: Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF mw title - who wins this and how ?
Yeah. GGG let Jacobs off the hook, if Derevyanchenko hurts Jacobs, I believe he'll finish him. On the flipside, Danny will definitely test Derevyanchenko's chin in what will be a sink or swim moment. Solid matchup.

GGG had lots of trouble with Jacobs. If Derev wins this hes the real deal.
I am expecting Jacobs by UD.

Yeah Jacobs didn't look so impressive in his last two fights. I think the GGG fight took a lot from him. After that fight ended, Jacobs sank to his knees due of the exhaustion which could tell us that he put a lot of effort in that fight. On the other hand Derev is D.J's gym mate and both share the same trainer. Most probably they have sparred countless times, so this fight could be very intriguing but I still favor Jacobs to win due of his boxing skills and physical attributes.

Jacobs is good fighting on a back foot which is why he only impressed twice in the last few years - against Quillin (under 3 minutes) and against GGG. Derevo may want to consider fighting on a back foot himself.

I wonder who is gonna train Derev / be in his corner ? It would play a major factor that both known each other very well.

Nothing certain but I will put my last $$$$$ that The Miracle wins this fight against a pro novice Jacobs by Clear Un Decision.

Arguably lost to GGG, and he was KO'd brutally by Pirog on the backfoot. Also, I have to wonder how much the missed IBF rehydration helped him. Would be dumb for Derevyanchenko to fight him off the backfoot. Jacobs can be beat by pressure.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑08 Jul 2018, 10:40Jacobs is good fighting on a back foot which is why he only impressed twice in the last few years - against Quillin (under 3 minutes) and against GGG. Really not sure about Derev. Seems to be a good all rounder. Somewhat crafty and harder to hit then the norm. Clearly he has power but really how much. His work rate is solid But i think he slows. He’s also not a big middleweight. He’s going to have to work hard to get inside on the bigger Jacobs as you’d think he’s need to be close to land those hooks. Its a tough task regardless of how tame Jacobs has looked recently. Very hard to call and good fight but I’d slightly favour Jacobs at this stage.

I like this match, Jacobs would be a favorite IMO

50/50 type of fight...............

Jacobs 9-3. Derevyanchenko should have been pushed more quickly after dispatching Sam Soliman in 2 rounds.

I think SD rises to the occasion & stops Jacobs late by setting a fast pace, outworking him & overwhelming him down the stretch.

Has anybody bothered to watch the YouTube videos of Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Daniel Jacobs sparring each other prior to formulating their opinion of the outcome of their 27th October bout?
These guys know each other well, as they’ve sparred lots of times, which means their over-familiarity of each other’s styles could result in a real stinker of a bout!
Jacobs looks physically much bigger than Derevyanchenko and also seems to have more skill and speed of the two gym mates. However, the Ukraine appears to have a higher work-rate, is more aggressive and also works the body much more.
The two styles could cancel each other out and we may end up witnessing a cagey contest, one which I’d favour the American to emerge victorious from, via a UD in a highly-competitive matchup.
For the record, I don’t really have a proverbial “horse” in this “race”, so I won’t be bothered if Sergiy Derevyanchenko captures the vacant title or if Daniel Jacobs does, since the only thing I’d like to see is a good fight... and I'm not sure if we'll get to see one between these guys.

Unless Derevo catches Jacobs with a perfect shot, the real hometown fighter will win a decision.

Going for Jacobs on this. Derev got the skills but size advantage and power goes to DJ.
