Is the winner of the Williams v Skelton rematch being lined up to challenge one of the euro holders of the belts?, this was the rumour last month , or was that rubbish as well

Just like the same B/S from Sports Network about the winner of Williams - Skelton fighting Nikolay Valuev for the Heavyweight title.

Isnt the heavyweight division bloody awful at the moment? People saying that Wlad will usher in a new era are talking crap, the guys got a chin as brittle as a piece of cheesecake. Talking about Williams and Skelton as contenders shows how bad the scene is; their fight was technically awful. But both would have an outside punchers chance against Wlad, but Greenburg wouldnt even have that. I think Rahman would chin Wlad handily. Who the hell is Lyachovich, never heard of him until he beat Brewster. The place to be for heavyweights at the moments seems to the former Soviet states. This brings an interesting geographic turnaround; for 70 or so years most of the top heavyweights have been of Afro-American, especially in the last 50 years. Now it seems like Eastern European fighters are dominating the heavyweight division. Will we see similar turnarounds in other divisions too?

greenberg - what the hell are they thinking of? is he even european title level yet

it would be bad for Any of the british heavies to fight for a world title, even in this era i would optimistically describe as "unstable"

I see Greenberg having slightly more success than Byrd, but ultimateley being KO'd.

This win win will be a huge confidence booster for Wlad
i cant believe wlad would pick on such a raw prospect with NO big fight experience!! i guess the win over retread byrd didnt do much to bolster wlad's already questionable heart!!

Why do so many people spell it "Greenburg"? Genuine question.

No he lacks power is lethargic and one paced, Wlad Klitschko would annihilate him early.

Because nobody is interested enough in him to remember to spell his name correctly. I've nothing against him personally, I just don't think he is very good. The first big puncher he faces is going to annihilate him.

Roman was a talented teenager but i am of the opinion that he has had it too easy as a pro...
He has been built up on soft touches (not unusual in itself) but i think that he has lost the "eye of the tiger" due to all the pampering...

Physically he has that 'soft' look about him (in terms of his paunch) which makes me think he is far from a spartan trainer (as does his work rate come fight time).

When your team goes from feeding you an endless list of soft touches, to pushing your forward for what looks like a 'cashing out' big fight, its time to worry.

I didn't rate him before but he has grwon on me. Greenburg has nice skills and some fast hands. He could have a bright future in the sport. He fights with his hands down though and he is liable to take some huge shots fighting that way. If they gradually stepped up his comp who knows how far he could go.

If he fights Wlad I'd like to see pull off a win and with Wlads chin theres always a chance although I'd look at Wlad to give him a severe beating with Greenburgs hands down.

Wlads chin isnt that good... but realistically his chin has only let him down once (versus Sanders) and Sanders can do that to practically anyone.... that southpaw stance, fast hands and good accuracy meant he was extremely dangerous for a few rounds and he always chased the KO.

Against Purrity and Brewster it was his stamina that let him down.....

Both Purrity and Brewster sucked up LOADS of punishment before fighting back to win....

I for one cannot see Greenberg doing that... I SERIOUSLY doubt he has Purrity or Brewsters chin.....

Greenberg hits No harder than Chris Byrd and i am pretty sure he doesnt have Byrds heart or resiliance either....

I agree on Wlad's chin Knockout, he was only stopped cold once by Sanders who we know was a world class puncher. Against Puritty and Brewster it was stamina that beat him, Wlad has a tendency to "fall apart" a wee bit when put under intense pressure, he did the same against Peter who threatened to overwhelm him. Hopefully the Byrd mauling will restore some much needed confidence as when Klitschko is in commanding, front foot mode and dictating a fight he is the best Heavyweight in the world IMO

But please let's see him waste his time fighting Greenberg.

Hope you are right, we need some quality - I still think though he is incrediably chinny. Sanders didn't land great shot on Wlad, all except for 1 of the KD (and it wasn't the first) were landed by shots similar to Williams' KD of Harrison, cuffing efforts.

He was in diseray vs Peter and the Williamson fight was warming up nicely.

Re-watched Greeberg yesterday, I don't know what I was thinking, he looked terrible, I take all the good things I said back, not enough power to KO Wlad.

Just saw last Saturday's fight: Klitchsko's left hand was too educated for Byrd, who fought a pretty poor fight in general. I thought the referee got the stoppage exactly right; Wayne Kelly has had a fair few horror shows in the past, but he got it right on Saturday. Props also to HBO for a good production, especially when Lampley put Lederman in his place at the time of the stoppage. Both mainstays did a commendably calm job in the middle of a foreign rumpus; they worked well, just the two of them. It would have been even better if they had saved the airfare for Lederman and brought a floor manager or something.
