Manny Pacquiao vs Lucas Matthysse

Post by handsofstone »

This Saturday on allegedly and the first Pacquiao fight in a long long time I'm actually looking forward to, both guys well passed their best and in all honestly a 12 round snoozer wouldn't surprise me but I'm still interested to see if it turn into a tear up

Pacquiao been out the ring for a while and deserved the loss to Horn IMO although I only had a point in it, he could've aged badly in the meantime, if he can dredge up some of that fire he showed in the 9th round of that fight then it could get interesting, I thought Matthysse looked poor last time against Kiram and was behind before getting the stoppage, although Kiram looked to take an easy way out, either way Matthysse's power is a great equaliser

I actually think Pacquiao will still be able to outbox Matthysse, the 3rd Bradley fight and the Vargas fight showed Pacquiao still a tidy boxer even without the fire of old but I feel at some point Matthysse is gonna hit him and hurt him and I have a sneaky feeling we might see a bad KO loss for Pacquiao

Expect Manny to box his way to a decision but he'll probably have a few rocky moments. I had the Thai lad ahead against Matthysse until he got caught. He just couldn't cope with that power.

Lucas is on a late career roll, just like Linares was, except Pac is not Loma.
I think Lucas stops Pac, but don't tell my Mrs- she loves the little Philippineo

Don't think Pac has ever really been in a Szooze fest , hes always Throwing punches
been in some very one Sided fights though

Probably Mayweather fight was the most boring but was always interesting till the end due to who was involved, he tried though.

I think this could be decent fight , MAthyse only chance is a knockout though which he's capable of , wide points for Pac for me. - If he gets the Khan Fight though I can see Khan winning which really would be a shame.

I don't think I'll be able to handle Khan beating Pacman! Hopefully the Brook fight is made and he gets starched...

I've never been a huge fan of Pac in all honesty.

I just felt he was very fishy - A guy who fought for five years at flyweight beating up big welters like Margarito & Clottey like they were nothing...

Yup,

Funny how he was knocking people dead, then his KO's completely dried up and have done for the last 9 years against lesser opposition once he started coming under scrutiny.

It's definitely suspect man! Manny did have genuine power up the weight as well. Mosely said he's one of the hardest hitters he'd faced!

I’m looking forward to this.

Both shot to pieces, but Pac-Man was unlucky in Horn had a style to put him under pressure.

Matthysse was gone the minute he swallowed the Postol fight.
I see him just standing there trying to land bombs and Manny picking him off.
Shutout to Manny.

1st fight in a while ive stayed up and got "on it" for, as much as ive loved Pacquiao I can see him getting starched out of nowhere here
nice s
Sky and allegedly are as bad as each other with the "world" title shite, moan about the politics one week then next their encouraging it

Pacquao's a dude but nowhere near as sound as he makes out, I never see him speak proper about anything remotely important, whether in interviews or mixing with the people, in his defence the main thing is he helps and inspires people so keep it up , he's doing no harm but he's about as real as the Kardashians

When he was in his pomp I fvkcing loved him, even when he beat De La Hoya I tipped him to win but my knowledge of weight divisions was literally non exisent, his CV is too deep you cant help but forget his scalps, the longer ive been following boxing and some people whos opinions I respect make me underappreciate him though( regarding the PEDs), the worst thing about the questions in that period is the fact that clean or dirty he's still be a great, be a shame if he's a wrong un

Pac looks huge in there. Even though he had Matthysse down just then it's pretty safe to go the distance still for me. Pac fights are pretty boring these days. He should be getting Matthysse out of here but it won't happen.

Yeah, he’s dominating and should end it, but probably won’t. For what it’s worth it’s an entertaining Pac fight thus far so as long as this pace is kept up then 12 is fine by me

It's still pretty much a routine Pac fight. He will keep plodding along throwing fast jabs, right hooks, 1-2s and 1-2-3s all night. Mostly hitting gloves. I'm making good money on this going the distance live betting. I find his fights quite boring these days to be honest. Matthysse is bascially a shot fighter who will quit if the going gets tough but he will last here because Manny will just keep it like this.

That was a pretty special performance from Pacquiao, talk about rolling back the years, he was pretty much punch perfect, I'm pretty staggered, I always thought he'd outbox Matthysse but not like that and with that much spite, don't get me wrong Matthysse was awful, next to no resistence and showed Pacquiao too much respect, his chin/heart have always been suspect but apart from the first KD in the 3rd with the left uppercut, the other 2 KDs were soft for this level, Pacquiao was fcvking superb ive gotta say, right hook, left uppercuts and even jabs were spot on, his tempo, workrate, patience were top notch I'm pretty shocked how good he was

Yeah, at first I was even doubting about the outcome, but eventually I picked Pac to win, yet I've never expected such a dominant performance with the stoppage.

Poor little bugger. In twenty years time you'll see him, by that point they will have to prod him into the ring with a broom handle, he'll stare vacantly up at the lights vaguely acknowledging a fleeting memory that tells him why he's there and what he's supposed to do, and this little *incredibly musclebound sixty year old* there, beating up a Thai rickshaw driver, sweat filled with yellow phosphenes coming out of his pores every time a punch lands, literally spraying the audience with PED's.
