I suppose that depends on a few things,

1. Ticket prices

2. The length of the fight

3. Who their manager/promoter is

maybe at £30 a ticket your would need to sell 100 to get a wage but I personally don't see much shows nowadays with £30 tickets.

When my mate signed for Tommy Gilmour that's what he wanted minimum! When he couldn't shift that amount he tried to use him as fodder a few times at the last min. Ended up packing it in. Must be pretty demoralising going in to the game full of ambition etc then getting it sucked out you!

All depends I would say. I do my brothers tickets and sometimes it is all on timing. I remember he got a fivht last minute on Davies show in Aberdeen and had to sell as many as he could. I think he done 50 bit David took the hit due to having another good fighter on bill. When cards fall a part it kinda eases the burden. For cyclone shows he's to sell minimum 100 and same with prospect. The politics don't help tho. We did well over 100 for a cyclone show to need to refund as opponent didn't get visa day before and prospect show opponent wasn't sorted so ended up exhibition with Eddie Doyle. That puts fans off. Sometimes I feel promotors expect the boxers to do there job and sell the show.

Yeah ticket deal contracts are not recognised by the board they are private agreement between promotor and boxers there have been many cases over the years where boxers have fought for nothing coz they haven’t sold enough tickets I’ve also known many cases where the boxer has had to pay the promotor so he could box

I can't see why fighters want to turn pro there is no real incentive there anymore. The standard of boxers that can get a pro licence now is so low there is no real pride in calling themselves a Professional boxer. On top of that shifting 120 tickets and still being out of pocket leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. I don't know 120 people let alone 120 who would want to watch me fight. If you can't shift a ticket you either go down the journeyman route and no what your getting into or you try and go as an away fighter and more often than not get every obstacle put In front of you from the get go.

If that was the case it sounds like his manager ripped him off how could he have paid his manager 25% after expenses of a negative figure ?
