Did you know Vitali Klitschko is STILL the WBC Heavyweight Champion Emeritus? :-? At this point I'd rather see Fury in with the ancient older Klitschko brother. At least it's a name.

If Chagaev knocked him out in less than a round. And it took old Kev Johnson 7 rounds- Fury needs to make some sort of statement here, I don't know what, but something.

It's about keeping him busy. This is a decent opponent considering. Forget what Tyson says about Wilder & Joshua. He knows he's a year away.

I'm chuffed with this opponent. It's levels above what I thought.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by this announcement (which shows you just how low I’d set my expectations)

Lads,

It's not the game it's the media.

Back in the 80's I would often wait 3-6 months for a boxing result.

Now I can get round by round opinions from any fight no matter where I am in the world.

We're f*cking spoilt babies

Chill. We're in the age of instant gratification. Don't let it change you (into a Millennial :OhYes: ).

The fights will happen when the fights will happen. Be Zen :D

As an official Buddhist Monk I am here for you (bows down and sweeps arm majestically, like a proper patronising c*nt) .

dont really mind pianeta tbh, ppl just need to have there expectations in order if they were expecting someone serious

he only just fought last month, pianeta is perfectly decent (if not that interesting) if hes gonna keep up this type of activity and gradually step up each time.maybe someone like robert helenius for late 2018, and then a more serious contender after that or someone like charr for the wba regular title (which gives a shot to ajs wba title)

basically, i feel fury is on track to be right back in the mix next year if he keeps building up with each fight, and at 30 that still leaves him with plenty of time. it will be a problem if we see him stagnate at the same level of pianeta.

I feel like this is definitely part of the comeback plan.

Aren’t he & Charr on friendly terms? Pick up a title, get ‘decent name’ on the record, AND give your mate a nice payday? Makes sense to me.

Opponent is fine for this stage of comeback. Needs to have shifted another 10-15 lbs.

Excellent news. Hope it translates into a sharper performance against Pianeta. And no messing around this time!

Pianeta is very shop worn., and looks to have gone right off the boil.

In his last fight he was out of shape and looked pretty clueless against a 10 fight novice. I see a Chisora 2 type of hammering coming up.

This is a perfectly acceptable fight at this stage of Fury’s comeback. Pianeta is evidently on the slide but there are plenty of worse opponents they could have chosen...

As long as he steps it up a level or two after this because that's two scrubs now. Third fight should be against someone with a little ambition/skill....

‘Perfectly acceptable’ is stretching it a bit, but it is a step in the right direction.

Yes it is. He's a long way off his best yet people are expecting him to jump in with a fringe top 10 contender after spending the last few years abusing his body/fighting depression.

better than expected.

but at world level Pianetta is very one-dimensional.
goes the distance without doing much.
a very dull fighter

id have gone for Carlos Negron for some quick thrills.

It won’t be though as FW has too much £££ tied with BT to risk anyone who can punch until he gets them a PPV show with Fury.

It’s a step up but it’s not a good fight. I thought it was reasonable at first but the fact he’s lost 2 of his last 3 and was KO’d by Kevin Johnson had passed me by.

If he fought Kevin Johnson would people be happy? It was briefly thought he may have been fighting Johnson in his comeback fight which not too many of us were happy about.
