Mega-hyped fights, mega disappointments
I remember the De La Hoya/Trinidad fight was going to be the next Hearns/Leonard or Hearns/Hagler of the era, but it was a tad dissappointing and had repurcussions in both fighter's legacies.
Spinks/Tyson also was supposed to be THE fighters in the division, but ended with Spinks on his face w/his butt sticking out in round 1.

Yeah and it was kinda sad when Tyson had no way out: He couldn't bite his way out, he couldn't KO the hell out of Lennox, he just had to take the ass whuppingringsider wrote:Na......what did you expect in Lewis/Tyson? Tyson was 12 years past his prime! Now had the fight been back in the 90's it might have been something to at least see, Like Tyson/Holyfield 1 & 2.
Same here. I could have sworn this fight would result in some major excitement. Instead is was boring as all hellbigzab wrote:Maybe not a mega fight, but I was young at the time and I really expected FIREWORKS when Tyson and Bonecrusher squared off. I was trembling waiting for the bell to sound.

adam im sorri but i disagree. sure mayweather vs judah was hyped but it was a reasonable fight not a snoozefest..we even got to see a small 10th round brawl and low blowadspath wrote:mayweather vs judah i think was hyped a bit much and didnt end up very exciting. Mayweather didnt fight well and Judah was a dissapointment as usual.
also gatti vs mayweather was a dissapointment and many of DLH's big fights
as with gatti vs mayweather it to me was an outcome i was expecting i didnt see gatti with a chance.. and ODLH did bring a lot of dissapointment in some of his fights especially when he drained the trinidad fight
With the benefit of hindsight it has crossed my mind that maybe big Bonecrusher had put some money on himself going the distance.bollox wrote:Same here. Trinidad-De la Hoya is the first that comes to mind, but I also would add Chavez-Whitaker, in the sense that was such an exhibition by Whitaker, not competitive at all, and a very disappointing performance by Chavez. Maybe I'm biased cause I was a huge Chavez fan and in my own mind I was hyping the bout for almost six months (since the end of Whitaker-McGirt I).

I agree with the 10th round, it was a beautifull low blow and created a bit of excitement when the trainers jumped in. Migz as much i like DLH, its true, i have finally admitted that many of his fights have been dissapointments. Especially vs Trinidad.Migz wrote:adam im sorri but i disagree. sure mayweather vs judah was hyped but it was a reasonable fight not a snoozefest..we even got to see a small 10th round brawl and low blowadspath wrote:mayweather vs judah i think was hyped a bit much and didnt end up very exciting.
