ESPN +

Post by Bacchus8888 »

Has some decent boxing matches on ESPN plus but what the heck good is it for me I can’t watch it on my television-they should make sure it can be watched like Netflix before they launch such a channel because some of us old timers would rather watch a boxing match On a television normally rather than by way of the computer.

You should invest in a tv with Chrome-cast. I usually just cast my stuff from my computer. I'm the same way. I don't like watching boxing matches on my computer. I'd rather watch it over my TV.

I'm going to order it the day before the Pacquiao/Matthysse fight to test it out. Do you have a Roku? I'm going to try and see if it's compatible with the Roku. I'll report back if you're curious. Then you could just go out and get a Roku. They're not very expensive, like ~$30.

I'm not looking forward to watching ESPN + on my laptop either. That's why I haven't bothered ordering it yet. But, I know that I eventually will. Especially when their schedule picks up the pace & they begin carrying the UFC in January.
What I'm wondering is if there's a way to get ESPN + to play on smart TVs? Or on my Amazon Firestick?
Anyone out there know?

You can watch it on your TV with fire stick or Roku. I'm watching ESPN+ right now testing it for tomorrow night. It's perfect. All you do is go to the ESPN app and they have an option on there for ESPN+. It's really easy.

Thanks much, Walter! I figured that there had to be a way but I just got my Firestick a week or so ago & haven't really played around with it all that much yet. Peace, dude. Enjoy the fights.

If you don't want to deal with the Firestick and you have a laptop at home, all that you need to do is buy an adapter like this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-m ... lsrc=aw.ds

I just plug the laptop to the TV and it works perfectly. If you let me know what kind of laptop you have, I can double check the exact adapter that you need to buy. I just have to see what your laptop comes with for video ports. Easy.

The Pacquiao fight

Anyway it worked all I did was I bought an HDMI cable plug one end into the laptop and the other into the into the TV and I subscribe to ESPN plus which comes with a seven day free trial. I am watching it now although it’s tennis just to see if it works which it does. Didn’t expect to see commercials but I can live with that

It's a pretty bad service in general, but not unreasonable for $5/mo. My biggest issues with it is that it's not very flexible. You basically have to watch the fights live, or wait until the next day for the replay video to be posted. You can't log in 1 hour into the card (or 1 hour after the card is finished) and start it from the beginning. This is annoying to me, as I'm not always going to be home at the right time.

The fact that they still have commercials on a pay service is bullshit as well.

One trick that I stumbled on that other people might be able to take advantage of. Usually after I buy the subscription, I watch whatever card I wanted to watch, and then I immediately cancel the subscription just so I don't forget. What I've discovered is that, even if you don't ask for it, they seem to refund you the $5 subscription fee. I don't know if this only happens if you cancel within 24 hours or something, but it's happened to me twice now.

This service is garbage! You're paying AND they still have commercials? It's ridiculous! The upcoming cards aren't something worth paying for either. Only way I'd keep this service is if/when they add UFC fights to it. As of now, it's not worth it.

Okay, it's official. Service is garbage. I was trying to watch the replay, but the site is horrifically difficult to navigate. Instead, I just watched the replay on YouTube. Absolutely ridiculous. Not sure if they just didn't upload the replay yet or something else. Going to cancel tonight. Nothing worth watching coming up anyways.

I fear the day UFC fights are added. The UFC fight pass service is far superior to this and if they kill it to put UFC fights on ESPN+ it will be a big step down.

The service works perfectly for me. I’d rather the fights be on hbo because they are my favorite commentators but I’m good with it.

What does ESPN+ provide?

I know it's $5 a month. Is it just boxing? What other sports does it show? How much content do they have? Is it 24/7 or just a few hours here or there?

It has other sports and is available 24/7 to watch replays and archived content.

The other live stuff include things like MLS soccer, CFL football, tennis.

As far as boxing goes, in addition to the live fights....it contains a weekly boxing talk show and about 100 or so historical bouts.

Canceled my service. They really need to update the website and make it easier to navigate. They also need to add something. The sports they show are mostly obscure. If they get the UFC, I'd consider rebuying. Until then, the service is not worth it.

Also, Dan Rafael was trying to shill for ESPN+ but it backfired.

His poll had everyone picking Showtime or DAZN.
