Has Buncey left BN?

Post by mickey1975 »

I read it on FB he had as he was upset subscribers don't get full BT content. I'd imagine he wouldn't get the BT jobs now then, surely? Or they're just winding the channel down. Or maybe it's untrue.

Yeah he's got form to say the least

I don't know much about his past tbh mate. Just stuff I've read on here. I know he started promoting on the bare knuckle unlicensed circuit didn't he?

If anyone knows of anywhere I can read up on him it would be much appreciated :TU:

He's on BT mate. I think the script is that most of the 'main' fighters in Warrens stable will be exclusive to BT and BN will have the overseas and MTK shows (until it bombs anyway).

There was a new show on in place of the boxing hour last night. Recorded it and stuck it on now. Kinda like an American KOtv...

Tbf, Boxnàtion was always on borrowed time. The fact it has lasted as long a season it has is quite commendable.

But as soon as Fránk partnered with BT it’s days were always numbered.

I’m not overly fussed about Boxnátion’s demise, it was always on the horizon, but I think Fránk needs to up his game with BT. He’s let the standard drop significantly this year, and he can’t really afford to. He ought to be going all guns blazing competing with Matchroom now he has a platform he can rival them on.

He hasn’t really. Getting Saunders, Frampton, Warrington and Fury on track was always going to take time.

It's been pretty poor fayre this year on BT and allegedly. I couldn't give a fornicate about promoters just want to watch decent shows.

BN is definitely finito surely ? I cancelled a couple of months ago because they’re taking the piss with the lack of content lately and the BT bollocks, But it was with a heavy heart because I really wanted to support this channel, because who else is now going to show the medium non big American shows that gets ignored by sky ? BT won’t i assume - so what’s the future for uk viewers ?

Maybe some online streaming service will happen but they don’t allow you to record and most of us don’t fancy staying up till four in the morning to catch the stuff

That pretty much sums up my own view - it’s the International content that gives folk like myself who like to bet on boxing more live coverage.

I did wonder if MTK might buy it as going concern ? They were talking about MTK TV last week.

We’ll get 16 DAZN U.S shows on Sky but Warren gets a lot of Top Rank - that might go to BT.

When he signed the deal with BT it was for him to promote 20 shows a year in BT Sports and a further 10 on BN. He hasn’t got anywhere near that.

Some of his shows have been decent but he lacks the depth in his stable currently to do that kind of volume of shows. Quite a few of the fights down the cards have been good - like the Jono Carroll fight recently but the top of the cards haven’t been great at all - with a couple of exceptions (namely Warrington - Selby, Frampton - Donaire).

With a heavy heart I've just cancelled allegedly. They're missing too many big fights to justify it any more. Even liam Smith is only on bt.

Buncey's show was the best thing on TV, it became part of my Friday just like boxing news was years ago but looks like it's gone.

Really hope he resurfaces on bt. Feel stiffed by Frank but always wondered about viewing figures. Most sports fans probably want big UK nights rather than watching the international action through the night.

Thanks for the memories Buncey.

Watching the Pac fight last weekend, I think there were some big hints that it might have been his last show. There was lots of nostalgia in some of his links. Talking how fighters who were once prospects when the channel started are now in the tale end of their careers and he even said not everyone will be here in the next 8 years. Although he did rap up with a see you next week. Lillis also made a sad little grimmace when Bunce said that not everyone will be here over the next 8 years...

To be honest, it might be sad but he is a bit obselete now.... He is probably the highest earner on the channel as the "face" of allegedly - but BT already have their face in Paul Dempsey and I cannot see them keeping Bunce on his wages for the odd bit of analysis, especially when they have so many already doing that at less of a salary I would imagine.

If BN does continue then it going to need to cut costs and I can see them using the direct Telecast for these US shows and MTK already have a team in place I would imagine for their productions.

On the topic of BN future. I think it could still have a niche but it might need to play ball with other UK promoters and scoop up more content from abroad. A "hardcore" boxing channel I think can still work. I think a lot would depend though on these bigger US fights - such as involving Pacquiao in the future - do they also move to BT or do they stay on allegedly.

Yeah I’d happily resubscribe if it turned into a ‘hardcore’ boxing channel which properly covered small hall cards and showed some of the more obscure international stuff. But currently there is just nowhere near enough content to justify the cost (I know the cost is small in the grand scheme of things, but it’s the principle really).

that's harsh on buncey, lad has hardly missed a show since its been broadcasting. he's been through the night almost every weekend. he must have family, but he's dedicated himself to b0xnati0n. i know not everyone is a fan, but you cant deny his dedication. i think he works perfectly with dempsey, who can rein in some of his excesses.

felt bad unsubscribing, but if buncey is gone and they're only going to show 3rd rate fights - with the top lads on BT sport then what else can you do? my virgin package was 61 quid a month, with b0xnati0n as an add-on. i phoned up and he offered me BT Sport and discovery etc for 60 quid so its all good.
