After having WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder nearly out on his feet before being stopped in their March classic, heavyweight contender Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (28-1, 24 KOs) says he’s going to take it out on 6’7 opponent Razvan Cojanu (16-3, 9 KOs).
“I’m looking to make a statement on July 28 and get back to challenge for the heavyweight championship of the world,” said Ortiz. “I’m excited to be back in the ring. I am thankful to have this opportunity. To all the fans in Los Angeles, don’t miss this great card at STAPLES Center. ‘The Real King Kong’ is coming to LA!”
He shouldn't really be fighting an opponent with a 16-3 record at this stage. Should have went straight back in with one of the ranked guys like Parker is doing.

I'm sorry, but I understand more and more why AJ isn't really that interested in Wilder any more.
All the guys Wilder ever won against have directly or indirectly already been beaten by AJ or will very soon retire (Stiverne and Ortiz).
Somehow if AJ fights against guys like Miller and Kownacki, Joe Joyce, Whyte, Parker, Fury, Dubois, they will have a whole future ahead of them where they can beat newcomers themself that need to pass guys like them first before getting a shot at AJ.
Wilder doesn't fight talents (except for Washington), he only fights guys that are already shot, have absolutely no chance and accept a loss beforehand but are still ranked high because of a lucky shot in their past.
Joshua has stated again and again how he wants all the title belts and Wilder holds the remaining belt. It's that simple. No point trying to complicate it.

Wilder said the same thing for years and years and years, but in the end, he never fought any champion or serious ex champion ever has he? And if a beltowner doesn't want it to happen it simply won't happen. The last thing I heard was that he (Wilder, the B-side) wanted to demand a rematch clause and on top of that a 50/50 split. It's just ridiculous, I've never heard of any B-side demanding a rematch clause and if you're any confident about yourself you won't mind about it ever, just like Tyson Fury did with Wladimir Klitschko, Klitschko could get it because he was the A-side and the top of the world, despite he didn't have all belts. For me, Wilder is just an idiot that destroys boxing as a sport for all his carreer purely for selfish economic reasons. This is also the reason why I don't see the WBC as a serious belt any more, you simply can't take them serious any more. If you put an inactive hyperdoper like Stiverne as a mandatory, an inactive blown up cruiserweight with only 2 active boxers left on his entire carreer resume (Wilder and Willie Herring with his 15 loses), then I can't see that as a championship fight. Nevertheless, I wasn't surprised.
If you claim that an all time great like Wladimir is just an old men and at the same time fight a men who's on blood pressure medicine, that only won against only 1 currently active top 50 boxrec opponent in his entire life (an opponent Wladimir won against as well btw) and then claim that was the boogieman of the division, you're just a nutjob.
I feel sorry for AJ that he can't complete his latest unification because it's owned by a nutjob, but I guess he has to move on, you can't let a destroyer of the sport you're the best in of the entire world walk away with more money and controll then the actual champion of the world, just because you want to achieve something.
You can't allways get what you want, or only if you let a scammer do his job, which you shouldn't. You should be a good example for the sport and that's exactly what AJ is and Wilder isn't.
Joshua wants all the titles. Wilder holds the remaining one.
Joshua and Hearn know Wilder is their biggest danger out there.
Wilder and Finkel know Joshua is their biggest danger out there.

When it's time to negotiate a big fight, all you hear is noise.
Yes, at least mostly noise anyway. We have certainly heard plenty of noise for the past few months. That's why in my previous post - just above - I have broken things down to reality only, and left out the noise.

Luis Ortiz is looking to make a statement against a 16 - 3 opponent?
What kind of statement is that then?
It's "I fooled you all. I'm really 48 years old which is why I'm fighting someone as unintimidating as Razvan Cojanu".
He should fight Shannon Briggs in that case
The crazy thing is, although I don't believe Ortiz is the age that he is officially listed at, he is still a damn good fighter and capable of way more than beating up Razvan Cojanu. I don't have a problem with this fight, nobody takes on top fighters everytime out (Sorry AJ I meant the others) but talking about making a statement is just embarrassing. Just STFU and pound on Cojanu - give your heavy-bag a day off, then make your statement fighting someone threatening.

Yeah, fair call.
Erm.. We don't use "crossed swords" anymore, the gays own that one now.

Joshua and Hearn know Wilder is their biggest danger out there.
Wilder and Finkel know Joshua is their biggest danger out there.
The rest is noise.
For me it's:
Wilder is a greedy selfish sad guy that never deserved the WBC belt at all and even when he had it, he should have lost it against Povetkin ages ago.
Wilder is destroying the sport strongly and knows very well he's rubbish.
Sadly for the top boxers of this world, he's holding hostage of a belt, but refuses to fight anyone remotely close near competative.
The rest is noise.
It's not always the boxer that calls the shots. Look at who Wilder has, and hasn't fought. It's a well orchestrated resume.
At Joshua afraid of Wilder. Klitschko is still a better win than Wilder, ffs. I could maybe understand if Joshua never fought Klitschko, but the man goes from Klitschko to Povetkin.
Wilder was having trouble with Molina, Duhaupus, Spzilka, and Ortiz. Joshua has only struggled with an ATG.

Exactly. What kind of statement will a win against Cojanu make? Unless he's planning to deliver a spectacular demolition he may regret not targeting one of the main contenders.
I'd love to see Ortiz v Miller. A win there would be a hell of a statement.
I can't remember the last time FOX News mentioned Wilder.
Or Joshua, for that matter.
I do recall that FOX Business Network (which coincidentally I'm watching right now) did have Wilder in studio around the time of the Ortiz bout.
Mostly to discuss the business of boxing. And in case you missed it, Wilder was a perfect gentleman. Very endearing.
You guys should watch FBN morning host Stuart Varney. A transplanted Brit. Now an American citizen.
Quite conservative and quite brilliant.
Did you just suggest we watch the Fox Business Network?
Don't let any misguided agenda you might have Rob, get in the way of an informative and rewarding time.
In fairly short order FBN has become the highest rated cable business network on television.
I promise not to tell anyone if you give it a view or two. In addition to the erudite Varney, you'll also be able to get hooked on the Money Honey, the FOXy Maria Bartiromo.
