Povetkins Best Win
Povetkins Best Win
Having a look through his record & quite a lot of his opponents never fought again after losing to Povetkin. Whether that's down to being ruined by Big Alex or because they were at the end of their career (or both) I do not know.
But what would you say was his best win, given the result & stage of his opponents career?

his fight with huck was a great watch
Re: Povetkins Best Win
Byrd was more of a win, that gave a big name to the record, cause Byrd was past prime then.
Chagaev win was big, cause Chagaev was still there at that point.
Huck fight was fun to watch, but it's not big as a win, cause Huck was from the lower weight-class, furthermore it wasn't Povetkin's best performance.
Rahman only gave his name to the resume, he was shot.
Charr was a relatively big win, cause Charr was then a somewhat of a top fighter with the single loss to Vitali.
Takam win was big, cause Takam was a top fighter and remained in such status afterwards, and the fight itself pushed Povetkin in the WBC rankings, while being pretty intense, entertaining.
Perez win was pretty big, cause Perez was a tough competitor with the solid resume and Povetkin KTFO him right in the 1st.
Wach win was relatively big, cause Wach was considered then a top competitor with the only loss to Wlad.
Hammer win was also pretty big, cause Hammer is considered to be a tough always dangerous fella, close to the top 10.
I vote for Takam win, it was big not only on paper, it gave Povetkin good experience of being close to trouble and overcoming it. Huck bout was a similar situation in this sense though, but it was only questioning Povetkin's credibility, but not pushing him forward in the rankings.

Takam and Perez were good wins especially the manner of the victories. He was probably roiding out his nut though.....

I agree with you. But numerous posters on here had it for Huck

Can see their point to be fair. Was one of they fights that could've went either way.tiny_acres wrote: ↑17 Jul 2018, 18:56I agree with you. A good fight but he arguably lost that fight.
So I wouldn't consider it his best win
Re: Povetkins Best Win
Perez was in the midst of depression and alcoholism when he fought Povetkin.
Not saying he would have won but a top Perez wasn't there that night

Re: Povetkins Best Win
widely beating a then undefeated eddie chambers is better then many of those listed. chambers was a pretty solid top 10 contender (maybe even top 5 at the time of the klit fight) until he moved down in weight and then hooked up with the furys and drifted off the radar.
povetkin has a good resume, i rate it second best at hw after ajs, although thats including all his fights, just going by recent fights its not as strong, although still solid by todays standards

I voted Takem.
AJ and Parker couldn't take him out, and Takem was a little more lively against Povitkin. That really singles Povitkin as a serious threat.
His standing statue KO of Price was art, man. You don't often get to see a statue KO.

I didnae know that - already voted for the Perez win.
With that being the case, I'll go along with the Takam consensus.
