Does he hit hard enough with those arm punches to discourage them though?
Yeah, I can't see how he would manage it. Also, Joshua is extremely explosive and Usyk counts on absorbing punches on his arms. Joshua would KO him, imo.
You'd have to think AJ would be just too big, but before tonight I had no interest in the "AJ vs undersized Usyk mismatch"
Now I'm thinking, 'Usyk looks like AJ's toughest challenge on the horizon."
He just got better and better and better in that fight.

It’s the footwork & fitness. AJ would be swatting all night. Usyk is a freak of nature. How can he maintain that pace for 12 rounds.
Gassiev was still landing, and Joshua would not need to keep any pace. Usyk would not be able to KO him. Joshua can keep his guard and then explode.

What if he takes Joshua's punches? He's nailed on to outwork him.

That was a masterclass. 12-0 imo

I thought Gassiev had a real chance too

Agreed on that. That's the bit that could make it interesting.

I can't see it myself at heavyweight. I don't think he would stand in front of the bigger boys and throw those arm punches. And he doesn't like getting hit at all, he complained about every one of the few punches Gassiev landed.

Superb cruiserweight though.

Watch him vs Breidis. He doesn’t mind getting hit at all, he seemed to enjoy it

Fcking clinic from Usyk I gave him everything, his punch output is phenomenol, his footwork was outstanding and the variety he gets on his shots, he could maybe sit down on is shots more than he does, kinda reminds me of early Loma but still I'm being harsh that was an absolute schooling, he easily peppered the jab into Gassiev's face, pitty patty most of the time but it was relentless and along with the movement it stopped Gassiev from throwing, he come over with the left hand or uppercut and also change the jab into a hook, outstanding to watch and he began to plant the feet more as the rounds went on, Gassiev looked totally blank

Gassiev looked dangerous when he'd spring his attacks to the body and started to land some head shots in the last couple of rounds but his workrate was poor tonight and he never really went through the gears enough

Carer best performance from Usyk, again doing it on the road, totally deserved, I'm a bigger fanboy now than ever, ive about burst my banjo string

Wow, Usyk is incredible. What fitness, a solid chin and fantastic ability. The only thing he seems to lack is real ko power, that`ts the only thing stopping him from taking over the heavyweight division. He will not hit hard enough to keep the real big men off him.

Total masterclass though, Gassiev looked like a punching bag in there. It says a bit about how well Breidis did against him, that was a much closer fight.

Imagine Usyk against Bellew? He would stop the Boomer easy.

That doesn't count because it wasn't on the loop at the start of IFL TV videos.

He doesn't need the extra power. To beat him, you have to stop him and he hasn't looked hurt. He will outwork anyone he shares the ring with.

That was just a beautiful performance by Usyk. Great movement, variable combinations. An amazing work from the distance. What a pleasure to watch. Gassiev can be given only the 4th round for landing the hardest shot, but even there he was out-thrown and out-landed.
