Gutted for him, i thought he had an outside chance against Perrera. Hopefully he'll get a rematch with hunter as a eliminator at super-bantam. What a great rematch that would be.
But getting a hiding from Voronin and Valdez and dropped by an unknown and generally not having the skills to get the job sone are the reasons why he won't.
Hunter WAS offered this fight on Tuesday but his management team knocked it back. He was still obviously relatively fresh after the Guartos win but a weekend on the tear in Hartlepool can do untold damage to a man's waistline and with the fight being on another Continent so soon after his last fight it was knocked back. Spoke to Michael and he fancied it "if it was a week later". The mood he is in right now he'd fight anyone. Interestingly his deal with Barry Hearn is up after his next fight (set for June/July) and I'm hearing Mr Maloney fancies getting involved.
Shame Hunter couldnt take the assignment but I fully understand that a weekend of beer and curry isnt what he needs so close to his biggest fight ever.
Could be a VERY interesting announcement soon regarding Hunter's next opponent. Just on the phone to him there at the airport as he's having a few days away with his missus and the kids. Let's just say he is quite excitable!!!
It will ONLY be a very exciting announcement if he is agreeing to fight Dunne..... if so he better make sure he gets a rematch clause into the agreement coz hes gonna need one!!!!
