Billy Dib vs Tevin Farmer

Post by handsofstone »

Farmer gets another crack at the vacant IBF Super Featherweight title after losing a controversial decision to Ogawa in his last fight, Ogawa then went on to fail a PED test and was stripped, I thought Farmer beat Ogawa at a canter although there were some people who didn't think it was that bad a decision, there's definitely room for improvement as far as offence is concerned for Farmer, defensively he's excellent but he cant leave any chances in Dib's backyard

Seems like a lifetime ago that Dib was world Featherweight champ and in his last world title fight he was KO'd in 3 by Miura, he's on 5 fight unbeaten street again standard competition , I really doubt he's gonna be able to keep up with the much sharper Farmer over 12 though

Dib's tough and Farmer only has 5 KOs to his name so a wide decision for Farmer looks the likely outcome

This is on allegedly on FRIDAY and being in Oz I think its on in the morning

farmer should put his foot down more, sharp boxer for sure (maybe best cross eyed boxer ive seen) but can coast a bit, think hed do well to take that ogawa decision as learning experience

dib hasnt had a notable win in years, obvs has his connections with the ibf

btw miuras ko of dib was cracking, takashi had little skill or defense but some dynamite in his left

Was looking through Dib's record earlier, I noticed he has 6 round points win in Sheffield back in 2005 when he was 9-0

Think Naz took a shine to him and used to bring him over to train etc.

Saw him get a gift of a decision in Vegas and the arena booed him out the ring.

Farmer should win this easy but he can really switch off at times.. Both fighters very beatable by the British lot so should be positioning themselves to fight the winner

Anyone watching this? I forgot it was on. Just turned it over and the fighters were making their way to ring. Just about to start.

It's like they've got no staff - you'd think there'd be somebody about just to say sorry we lost the feed or something. Really shoddy.

How did Farmer look ? I thought he was solid against Ogawa.

I actually fancy him to beat Gervinta Davis if they fought, but I think Davis will continue to be heavily protected.

Looked sharp enough mate. Tbh it was a bit of a mismatch. He was hurting Dib early with fast straight shots. Dib tried to get inside to work but Farmer looked strong and just tied him up.

Wouldn't mind seeing Farmer get Davis or some other higher profile fights. He's certainly done things the hard way.

Wasnt a great fight as it was too one sided, I gave Farmer everything, he was far too slick and skillful for Dib who was pretty crude, especially in the first half when he never really had a gameplan except just steam in and break every rule in the book, he always looked to get close but almost always initiated the holding so I'm not sure what he was trying to achieve there, he did tidy things up in the second half but by then he was too gassed after all the holding and wrestling, Dib did show a lot of ballz to carry on after the KD in the 9th, long left hand had his legs like jelly

Farmer's a class act though, one of the best defensive boxers out there IMO, great footwork and kept his composure after all the early roughhouse tactics from Dib, had most of his success with the left hand but his jab was quality too, good to see him become world champ after getting stiffed against Ogawa
