SMW was decent enough and had some good fights. Bit of a pain in the arse that two Brits have to fight in Saudi Arabia in the final but hey ho.

The cruisers were top drawer all the way through and the upcoming tournaments look like they'll throw up some very good bouts. All and all in I'm very satisfied with it so far :TU:

It's the best thing to happen in a long time, the CW one was pretty amazing, one guy ending up with all 4 belts

Yeah especially the CW the only bad thing was that except of Gassiev-Wlodarczyk it was not televised in my country, the rest was on youtube but the final wasnt

Honestly, I am undecided - CW tournament was wonderful (10/10), but I am a little bit dissapionted about SMW (4/10).

no they suck, boxing as usual is obviously way better

but seriously, im very happy with them, even in the derided smw tourney we still got groves vs eubank and now groves vs smith, sure as hell beats zurdo vs some bum or benavidez vs gavril 2

they are huge steps up on the status quo. now look at how great the 118 version is, and all the young hungry guys at 140

what the hell are you after then if you dont like these?

Of course, they were damn good, especially in the CWs, where there was only one shitty fight, which is Briedis vs Perez, and the rest was awesome.

It is a big enigma for me : Why some champions (or better "champions") at SMW avoided this chance ?

well for ramirez, i dont think his promoter top rank lets there fighters compete. arum notoriously loves having control over things. that ruled out jesse hart too since hes also with arum.

at 140 you also see that wbc champ jose ramirez isnt in, neither is contender alex saucedo. who do you think promotes both of them lol

I love it. I don't see how anyone wouldn't. It's the most exciting thing about the current scene in boxing, alongside similar ideas like the Super Fly only cards (and whichever others follow). If certain fighters choose to bypass it, that's more of an indictment of them than the concept itself.

It's a great format, what's not to like?

The cruiser tournament had all the main guys involved. Super middleweight was a bit light but we've got an intriguing final to look forward to.

The bantam line up looks good. Light welter could be stronger but still has some good names.

The more belt holders involved means a more definitive outcome. Ideally there should be very little, if any, doubt at the end of each tournament who the best in the world at each weight is.

If the winner abandoned the alphabet belts at the end and we got back to a lineal champion in each weight then that would be even better!

Yeah, you won't catch Arum taking a risk with his belt holders.
I don't actually think Zurdo would have made the final anyway, both Groves and Smiff would have beaten him.
Edit: probably Eubank as well.

WBSS tournaments are very good for boxing, Cruiserweight was turnament which almost all top boxers from division participate and in the final we get undisputed champ.. SMW was still very exciting, despite missing some top names. Final is going to be very interesting. Looking forward to more. Im even liking Holyfields welterweight tournament, where no top boxers participate, but all fights was on one card and winner of this tournament put himself on radar at title shot maybe. :box: :box: :box:

No I thought it was shite especially cruiserweight. Might have been ok if they had managed to find some decent participants but at it was, shocking. Extremely dull.

and you'd need to be to believe one word of that :D
