Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
After potentially salvaging his career with that 4th round knock out of Nick Webb where would be best for Dave Allen to go?
I would rather not see him being chucked into the deep end again against top level prospects and contenders. And not really even face the likes of a David Price or Hughie Fury. I'd much prefer to see him against someone like a Gary Cornish or Sam Sexton.
How would you see a fight with someone like Sexton going for example, if it were a final eliminate for the British title?

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
Dave Allen is now the mandatory challenger for Fury's British title, which will likely be vacated shortly, because Hughie is will be looking to engage in an IBF title eliminator next against Kubrat Pulev.
So assuming Hughie Fury vacates, then I cannot imagine Eddie Hearn working with Fɍȁnk Wȁɍɍȅn to orchestrate a title shot for Matchroom’s Dave Allen to face Queensberry’s Daniel Dubois or Nathan Gorman.
I don’t see any need for Dave Allen to face the recently defeated Sam Sexton or Gary Cornish, because it doesn’t raise his profile.
Therefore, I’m hoping for an end of year action-packed bout between Dave Allen and the promotional free agent David Price, possibly on the undercard of another Sky Box Office PPV event to be aired in December.
Isn't this thread better suited to the 'British & Irish' forum section?

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
I'm probably alone in this, I get that.
But I still want to see Dave and Lenroy battle it out.
Here's why;
The first fight was fan friendly.
Dave could have wone if he was fitter.
The second fight was cut short.
Thomas is right about Dave's level.
Out of all Dave's losses, this one can be avenged.
So what if the commonwealth belt is gone, it means nothing really. This is about redemption and entertainment.
Mentioning Price and DD is cruel, get a grip on Allen's level
I might be a fan, but I'm also a realist.

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
David Allen is the new Sam Sexton. He's going to be a low-ranking British gatekeeper for the rest of his career. He may lose someday to Dubois, Gorman, Joyce, Hughie Fury, Fabio Wardley, and/or Naylor Ball. Eventually the juice on his win over Nick Webb will run out, so he may have to re-up by getting a win over Gary Cornish. Otherwise, his other wins will primarily be against bums and clubfighters.

Dave Allen threw the bait out to Lucas Browne on social media a day or two ago and Browne seems very keen.

I didn't know about that. I never even thought about the two of them in the ring. It's an OK matchup. If Browne is the same as he was with Whyte, it's right about Dave's level.

Seeing this thread in current scene is like going in to TK Maxx and finding a pair of brand new Levis

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
Dave Allen's bout against Nick Webb was supposedly a final eliminator for the British title, so he's already the mandatory challenger for that belt.
Sam Sexton got KO'd in the 5th round of his most recent outing against Hughie Fury, which was when he lost his British title.
So two questions for you to answer...
- Why are you suggesting that Dave Allen should be made to participate in yet another final eliminator for the British title?
- Why are you suggesting that the BBBofC should allow Sam Sexton to challenge for the vacant British title, when he clearly doesn't deserve the opportunity?
Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
I heard it wasn't a final eliminator. Rather just an eliminator for the British title but that he'd potentially face either Sexton or Cornish before getting a shot at Hughie Fury. So not really my suggestion as such, just Eddie Hearn's wordsEnlightened-One wrote: ↑02 Aug 2018, 20:08Dave Allen's bout against Nick Webb was supposedly a final eliminator for the British title, so he's already the mandatory challenger for that belt.

"Lucas Browne reveals Dave Allen / Joseph Parker plan ahead of comeback"
Heavyweight hitter Lucas Browne has been forced to delay a comeback bout after suffering his first career defeat to Dillian Whyte in London last March.
The big Australian was due to fight over the summer until injury needed attention and is now pencilled in for a fall outing before casting his eyes on a return to the UK.
"I suffered a torn meniscus when I was KO'd by Whyte so I had to have surgery on my knee to clean it up," Browne exclusively informed World Boxing News.
"I’m back in the ring as part of a September 28th Jamie Myer production on the Gold Coast," he added.
Asked whether criticism of his shape for the Whyte bout came with any justification, Browne replied: "I was fit for the Whyte fight, there’s no doubt about it, but my conditioning was zero.
"I’ve never actually done strength and conditioning for a fight in my life, and that defeat was a true wake up call," 'Big Daddy' explained.
"This time, I’ve made my camp here in Perth full time at my new gym and with my new trainer. I was in Sydney for camp with Rodney Williams, who I rate as one of the best trainers in Sydney, but I wasn’t getting any other training like strength and conditioning etc.. and was also spending way too much time away from family.
"I spent four months away from my kids and girlfriend for the Whyte fight and it got to me in the end. I’m now full time at Onyx gym in Perth, full boxing, pads, bag, sparring, strength and conditioning, massage, recovery all in the one place and I’m ten mins away from my house, it’s truly a win, win for me.
"I've just had the knee surgery but am doing exceptionally well. One to two warm ups with the knee and under my new trainer then I’ll be ready to step in the ring with bigger targets.
"Hopefully we can get Dave Allen in the UK this December and Joseph Parker in the New Year," said Browne.

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
I like Dave Allen very much but I wish he'd hang them up now and go out on a high. He's extremely tough and fearless but he has poor defence and takes way too many punches. That combination of traits is not a healthy one for a heavyweight boxer.
Still I don't suppose he could make the same kind of money and enjoy the modest celebrity status doing anything else so my wishes are unlikely to be fulfilled.

Interesting statement. That's like saying he was strong for the fight, but he wasn't mighty.

As if their first match wasn't ugly enough. Now we are getting served up a sequel :brick:

David Allen is fighting Samir Nebo this weekend and is eager to face Lucas Browne in December.
The White Rhino's recent comments are consistent with the assertions Lucas Browne conveyed in August.

Re: Dave Allen vs Sam Sexton
I've heard Browne looked much better in his most recent fight than he did against Whyte. By that i mean in terms of fitness and health rather than his ability against obviously lower competition. When taking into account his failed drugs tests this raises some eyebrows but i'd happily watch a fight between Browne and Allen it would be very sloppy but almost certainly wouldn't go the distance.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑08 Oct 2018, 04:53 David Allen is fighting Samir Nebo this weekend and is eager to face Lucas Browne in December.

A win would actually propel Allen into a pretty high ranking on the likes of Boxrec, possibly up to the top 20 in the world on Boxrec and the 5th best British boxer if Hughie loses to Pulev
