Thought it was really good, didn't know much about him before but it told the story well. Some nice vintage fight footage too.

Very good documentary.

Finally lays to rest the mystery of freddies' death.

He was murdered by the mob who had come to soho with the aim of making it a gambling haven.

Freddie was in debt and asked an associate for £2500 or he would go to the papers about the mob in London. He effectively signed his own death warrant right then.

So it wasn't suicide to escape being caught for killing the hookers?

The author who wrote the book about Mills being Jack the Stripper was a fuckin charlatan, the book only come out a couple of months ago and already he's admitting he's not sure if Mills was the culprit, there seems to be zero evidence that he was a serial killer, I feel sorry for Mills family

Cracking documentary though, the fights with Harvey and Lesnevich look pure wars, what a beating Mills took in the 1st fight with Lesnevich

Mills took some savage beatings during his career. There were a few of his fights when he should have been stopped. The fights shown last night, especially the first fight with Lesnevich, demonstrated that with the undefended blasts he took to the head must have caused long term damage. He was too brave for his own good. But some people have this natural 'fighting instinct' which just drives them on, when physically their body is telling them to go down. Mills was one of these people.
I really don't know about his life outside the ring. There are some strange things.
I could never understand how he could marry his wife and then go on honeymoon to South Africa with her ex-husband?? I think I've also read that the ex-husband, also a boxer ( McCorkindale) lived with them in London for a while.

Detective Superintendent Leonard 'Nipper' Read , who was certainly NOT a corrupt cop in the 60's ( he was the man who eventually brought down the Krays) always maintained that he was in no doubt Mills killed himself. That'll do for me.

It was really just the latest update of both a sad and compelling true story. It might seem the most plausible explanation to most people but it's still inconclusive. I feel sorry for Mills's family.

Wasn't he a closet gay? Maybe he was pumping the ex husband as well or something weird like that.

I felt the documentary was nothing but a jerkfest of Mills, but with some great fight coverage.

There was nothing about WHY people think he is JTS, nout about him maybe being gay, and nothing about his apparent sexual sadism,.....it taught us nothing.

I am not saying any of these allegations are true, how would I know? But not even stating the case for the prosecution was silly.

Freddie was bisexual and was very close to Michael Holliday, the singer, who DID kill himself.

I think the Jack the Stripper theory is false and an awful slight on someone. The author of the book came across as a total tool in the programme.

Its really very simple. The US mafia were involved in boxing and clubland. They wanted to turn Soho into a mini Las Vegas. Mills' nightclub was in the way and struggling financially and Mills wanted money to keep it going. The only problem was the person he asked for money (Benny Huntman) had other ideas. Mills made the problem 100 times worse when he threatened Huntman that he would go to the papers and tell them about how corrupt Soho was if he refused to give him the money.

Poor Freddie had to be kept quiet so Huntman got on the phone and arranged for him to be executed. End of story.
