Backward step. Luke is no spring chicken, he has bigger fish to fry while he’s still in his prime

campbell has had some really good experience since that fight, but at the same time mendy has been on a career best run and may have grown from the experience as well. he certainly should feel confident when hes already beaten luke in the uk. even though campbells been competitive at a high level wouldnt surprise me if he struggles again here

I'm all for this fight. Luke obviously feels he has something to prove. It'll give his confidence a major boost and put him in line for another world title shot if he wins. Go for it. It's still a tough fight as well.

Rumours of Garcia going up to fight Spence.
If so, he could vacate the WBC and the winner of this bout gets an easy chance at the title.

I doubt he vacates. Spence would be a one off fight. He would come back down to 135..

Me too!
They both have come a long way since, and this would be a real boost to Luke if he wins. Linares was so close but Mendy put him out, time to take care of business :box:

You reckon in maybe a year or 2, Campbell can get revenge on Linares too. I had it close but clear for Linares TBH, didn’t see it a draw. Linares has been around forever. He’s not exaxtly old but in-ring wise, he’s got a lot of milage.

Yeah I'd like to see the Linares rematch over here as well. Maybe for a vacant title if Garcia vacates.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Luke lost. But it was way closer than I expected, only a couple of points in it really. And your right, Loma put enough miles on Linares's Clock for Campbell to have a real chance in a rematch

People seem to forget Luke lost his dad in FIGHT WEEK! What he did was incredible. He will beat Mendy, easily.

Good matchmaking, nice to see someone who actually wants to avenge a defeat.

This is shaping into a good card with the b sides getting time to prepare for a change.

i didnt know that, id thought he lost him right prior to linares, im pretty sure i recall you or someone else posting some sort of excuse related to that for why he lost to linares (but they claimed he actually won that)

He did lose him prior to Linares. No excuses needed. He ran him close. He will beat Mendy. Easily. His dad was terminally ill last time they boxed and Luke couldn’t handle it. He was training in a local amateur gym and in tears every night.

He died 2 weeks before the fight. Lost his battle with cancer.

I'd say that's got to be top of the list for 'excuses'. Fair play to him for even going ahead with the fight. I know I wouldn't

Yeh, he was already deep in training obviously. His dad died surrounded by all his family, for Campbell to not even be there, he must have fealt awful. Not even to be able to say goodbye.

misunderstanding , i thought it was suggested that camps father died right before mendy (someone in this thread , about mendy 2, said the fsther died right before 'the' fight, so i assumed that meant the mendy fight), which baffled me because i recall it being claimed also that he died right before linares , which it seems was actually the case

so i was thinking his father dieing was being used to explain partially why he lost both fights, even though they were a few years apart
