For years fans have wanted to see both Amir Khan and Kell Brook get in the ring once and for all to find out who the better fighter is but for one reason or another, it never materialized. Until now it appears.
Earlier this year Khan put past bitterness with Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn and joined forces with Hearn so that both he and Brook now fight for the same promotional company and on the same TV network, to give the fight a chance of happening at a potential catchweight.
That, in most cases in boxing, usually leaves the way clear for fights to be made as politics between promoters and broadcasters more often than not is the reason fights don’t tend to happen.
However Eddie Hearn has said in an interview with Kugan Cassius that he plans to end the year of 2018 in spectacular fashion with a fight between the two in a mega stadium event in Cardiff at the Principality stadium.
He revealed that the two dates he’s looking at for the potential fight are December 1st or December 8th.
Khan returned to action earlier this year for the first time since losing to Canelo a couple of years back and Brook also had a low-key comeback fight following back to back losses to Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr.
Khan must first come through Samuel Vargas next month however, as will Brook likely also have a fight in the meantime to overcome.
But all in all, superb news that the fight is genuinely being lined up for a certain date and a venue is being eyed this far out too.
I'm interested to see what catchweight if any they would meet at. Every pound is gonna matter to Brook, and Kahn definitely remembers Brook saying he can make 147lbs after the Spence fight.. This fight used to be a great potential match up. Now one of them has taken 2 horrific beatings and the other one was nearly decapitated. Not quite the same shine it had before, but it's still a must see event. Kell can erase the bad feelings of his losses with one punch on Kahn's chin. And Kahn can really do a number with those fast hands and maybe prove he was always the better guy. Something tells me these guys could be 80yrs old and still give a great fight. Gotta love hate.
Honestly it’s a fight to get excited about. I’d be very impressed if khan was able to pull it off, think his legacy would be boosted maybe even significantly however I favour Brook but I wouldn’t bet my house. Good fight.
I hope this happens because it's a huge fight on many levels, perhaps the biggest being being legacy. They've both been in huge worldwide fights but the loser risks being relegated into the lower ranks.
I suspect that Amir Khan has more to lose in this regard but if he's looking for big fights then who else is there? Mayweather's a memory and Pacquiao is still in boxing's A list!
The weight might be crucial, but Amir should stick to what suits him best speed and power wise rather than attempting to weaken Brook.

If it is under 10 stone 10lbs, I would pick Amir Khan. Above it Kell Brook.
