It's a good thing I follow True West Magazine and find some of these Treasures from time to time.

Old West magazine. I remember reading an article in it back in the 1970's that was really interesting.
It was about General George Armstrong Custer's hidden cache of rifles that was lost.
he had them buried somewhere when his troop had to go somewhere fast
and they all got killed at the Battle of the Little Bighorn and the cache of rifles
was never recovered.

I hope you're not being serious.

That photo was on the cover of a Fitz biography (by Dale Webb) around twenty years ago. Subsequent re-printings of the book have a different cover after the author must have realised his obvious error.

Hs anyone here visited Langtry Texas ?
Is there a Historical marker on the Sandbar in the Rio Grande(aka the Rio Brava River )that Bob Fitzsimmons had fought Peter Mahar on in February 1896 ?

The Rio Grande had a lot more volume of water in it back in 1896 of course.

check out this link to an old photograph taken in 1896 of the Fitzsimmons vrs Maher fight.
The canvas fence was 16 ft high and 200 feet in circumference to keep out gate-crashers.
Bat Masterson led the ticket-paying crowd of some 200 people across a pontoon bridge to the sandbar.
Fitzsimmons reportedly only took 95 seconds to knock out Mahr in the first round because
he was stiffed out of any money of it being filmed.
The Kinescope Exhibition Company had brought 4 camera and set them up at ringside, but the day was over-cast
with some light rain and the bout could not be filmed because of that.
