I hope Shawn Porter Vs Danny Garcia Winner Don't Fight Andre Berto Next!

Post by psychod1986 »

It would be a total mismatch besides Porter already beat him and would be a very easy win for Garcia as well.

Berto and Alexander are just kept around to be a name for the bigger names to beat sometimes when they need to.

If Berto gets the winner of Porter/Garcia chances are the loser of Porter/Garcia fights him after that.

Berto has the knack of getting fights he doesn't really deserve.
Good on him though. I thought he would disappear from the world scene after Mayweather. Seems I was so wrong.

A fight with Berto with either winner won't sell.

Not sure where they'll push Berto towards. Most likely, if the Mikey/Spence fight doesn't happen, I can see Berto being offered to Spence. I can also see Thurman fighting him.

There was a time when some boxrec posters claimed he was legitimately top 4 and a deserving titlist.

That's been quite a while back. As I recall even one of his title wins was a controversial decision. Wasn't one of his title wins a questionable decision over Luis Collazo?

I didn't even remember that he'd won a 2nd title after that honestly. Must've forgot when that happened.

Berto and Alexander seem to be PBC favorites.

Like it or not, they figure to be in plenty high profile fights---even championship bouts---until they begin to suffer devastating defeats.

Lately, they've been competitive, win or lose, so the pair will continue to pop up in televised main events.

How long would that last until they continue to keep on losing bouts and PBC decides not to broadcast there fights anymore, truth be told Berto nor Alexander brings nothing to the welterweight division but being known as some has beens.

I don't really care to be honest. All these guys are "The other guys" in the division. (Shawn, Danny, Devon, Berto)

Thurman and Spence are the big dogs. I'm just glad "the other guys" are staying busy and staying in the mix.

They'll inevitably be getting Thurman or Spence again at some point.

And in boxing, you have to have "the other guys."

The sport simply doesn't revolve only around the megastars.

Berto and Alexander are serviceable fighters who serve as measuring sticks to determine what level the up and comers are at, and exactly how dominant the top tier champions and contenders are.

Oh I didn't say we didn't need them. I'm just saying I really don't give a sh*t if they fight Berto next because I'd rather the top guys be fighting each other instead of recycling these guys anyhow.

The Porter/Garcia winner will definitely be in a position to get a shot at either Thurman or Spence though.

Sure your right Thurman and Spence are top dawgs in the division as far as Berto & Devon only will be in the mix for those pay checks to get enough to retire

They're the C List guys that are meant to be somewhat of a name for the more marketable guys to get a win over on TV.

I know for rising prospects to defeat & embarrass on national tv and Devon & Berto will still be happy to collect there checks for there lack of effort

Crawford's definitely one of the bigger names in the division right now, but given that he's promoted by Top Rank I don't really see how he's gonna be able to get in the mix with the other big names in the division. A big fight with Pac is the only real option for him in the division as every other name is in Haymon's camp.

Pac-Crawford has been talked about for several years. Long before Horn beat Pacquiao.

I don't think Pac was crazy about the idea back then. Now approaching 40, Pacquiao is probably even less enthusiastic.

Older, past their prime name opponents like Matthysse would instead figure to be Pacquiao's safer choice.

In my view Berto & Devon are below average fighters because both of there styles are awkward and both don't do enough to win.Yordenis Ugas, Josesito Lopez, and Antonio Demarco are both up in age and still have the ability to pull of a win. :bag:

Pretty sure Berto will be fed to Spence and then call it a career at some point in the future.

Obviously, but money talks. It'll be up to Arum to offer Pac a price high enough for him to take a Crawford fight. I don't know if there'd be enough money in the fight to give Pac what he'd likely demand so I can easily see it never happening.

Pac vs Horn 2 would make sense if Pac doesn't want to fight Crawford, they could at least sell the "Revenge" angle for his next bout.

It would have to be a boatload of dollars to entice Pacquiao. He was earning $25 million paydays for routine fights a few years ago.

He would probably demand more than double for Crawford, and I don't know if the interest is there any longer to justify that purse size.

How much did Pacquiao earn for Matthysse?
