Kell Brook Can Go Straight Into a Major Fight, Says Hobson
Link
With rumours circulating that Amir Khan and Kell Brook could finally meet in the ring this winter, Sheffield-based promoter Dennis Hobson has used his column in The Sheffield Star to urge Brook to skip a warm-up fight and go straight for his Bolton-born rival if the chance presents itself.
Indeed, Hobson believes that Brook can emulate Sugar Ray Leonard if the fights comes off, writing:
"Well, Sugar Ray Leonard fought Marvin Hagler after years out of the ring. Kell just wants to be in big fights. I'd bypass warm ups; I would just get involved in big fights because that's what he wants. He wants to leave a legacy and be financially secure. And can he get motivated for some of these warm ups, especially when he's been at the top level? I'd get him into major fights and let him prepare for them."
Hobson also told David Allen that there is always a spot on his shows for him should the Yorkshireman fancy a homecoming following his fourth-round win over Nick Webb last month.
"Dave was with me when he turned pro, and I've got a soft spot for him," admitted Hobson.
"I don't like it when he's not in shape and taking shots. I'm so pleased he got that result because he does have ability and he's charismatic. Hopefully he can apply himself a bit more and win a major title. Maybe this win will be the career-changing fight for him. He does take too many shots though and sometimes that's because of his conditioning. I wish him well. He's like a celebrity boxer with all his support and he can guest star on one of our shows if ever he wants to. I like him a lot."

Should be at a catch weight. Brook can't do 147 without leaving himself severely depleted anymore. Maybe he'd still have enough left to catch Khan but a catch weight is a fair compromise.

Kha would want to be at his peak, both of them would.. Khan can still make 140.
Re: Kell Brook Can Go Straight Into a Major Fight, Says Hobson
Brooks peak is at 154 now. Give Khan a few more quid to make the fight at a catch weight. I still can't see the fight coming off tbh.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018, 10:49Kha would want to be at his peak, both of them would.. Khan can still make 140.

Neither can I mate. Khan is the bigger draw here, he wants the larget split. As long as it ain't something daft. Then you have weight issues etc. I feel there's still lots of hurdles to jump over yet.
Re: Kell Brook Can Go Straight Into a Major Fight, Says Hobson
Yeah it definitely seems that way mate. With Hearn coming out and saying it'll have to be at 147 as well makes it seem as if it's far away from happening as it's ever been!Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018, 11:13Neither can I mate. Did Hearn say that? He's definitely nailed his colours to the Khan mast then.Stuarty wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018, 11:38Yeah it definitely seems that way mate. Khan has never wanted the fight. He uses the Khan/Brook thing to make him to promote himself. If I was Brook I would try and win a 154lb strap....... it won't be easy but if he's anything left he could win one.

Why would Khan want to use Brook’s name? Khan has been in name in the UK since the Olympics. He doesn’t need to use anyone’s name to self-promote.Switch hitter wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 03:06 Khan has never wanted the fight. He uses the Khan/Brook thing to make him to promote himself. It’s Brook that has always called out Khan over the years.

Yeh. He'll only be fighting guys that we know he can beat. Even if he's in a 60-40 type fight where he is favorite, but we could see a potential upset. We all know Brook is fragile right now.

Him and Khan will both be fighting scrubs until they can agree to fight each other or something more lucrative presents itself.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 07:15Yeh. Brook is becoming inactive.. Going down that route where he's waiting for a big fight.
He fought Rabchenko in March and not fought since. Many believe his 'injury' and pull out against Cook was fake..
Would he not at least rather stay busy and still get paid until that big fight?
He only fought once last year too.. We all know he had mental issued after the Spence loss, nearly lost his sh1t..
Let's say khan fights Pacman in December, I reckon Brook should fight on the undercard or at least on Whyte-Chisora 2..

Re: Kell Brook Can Go Straight Into a Major Fight, Says Hobson
I think Brook is carrying a bit of damage from his two heavy losses. They put miles on the clock and I think he wants only big fights as he knows he's probably vulnerable to a defeat from a medium level operator which would end his career at the top level.
Same with Khan really, hence why they are such a good match for each other. I still take Brook to smash Khan though, he has the power and Khan knows it. Brook has only lost to two power punchers, Khan is not a hurtful puncher.
Khan is just on the avoid, scared of Kell's power and knows he has more chance against a severely aged Pacman.

Brook is fast becoming irrelevant. I'm a fan of his and have been since before he won the British but he should be looking at other options than Khan because Amir is taking the piss. If Khan wanted that fight it would be on but he clearly doesn't.
I'd still piss myself laughing if Brook got the Pac fight before Khan.

Yeh, he needs to stay active.. Like I said, he'd still be making money whilst not taking risk..Stuarty wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 07:35 Brook is fast becoming irrelevant. What would Hearn pay him for a Whyte-Chisora PPV undercard? £500k ish? less?
Wonder how much he was going to pay him against Cook.
Re: Kell Brook Can Go Straight Into a Major Fight, Says Hobson
Hearn probably has a rent boy and gimp on retainer to pay Brook.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Sep 2018, 07:52Yeh, he needs to stay active..
