Jerry Quarry versus 10 of the Worst

Post by Tuan_Jim »

Who wins with arguably the best heavyweight never to win a title versus some of the worst ever to called a "champion"? As with all fantasy fights, this is best against best. Thus Quarry has pressed the button that activates his boxing acumen, the Ron Lyle masterclass being perhaps the best example of the cool, thinking Bellflower Bomber. The opposition is as seen when winning their trinkets. How do you see him faring versus:

Oleg Maskaev
Samuel Peter
Bermane Stiverne
John Ruiz
Nikolay Valuev
Lucas Browne
Manuel Charr
Charles Martin
Sergey Lyakovich
Shannon Briggs

I actually won't even call Browne and Charr champions. They got Regular belts, it's a paper belt. But if just to match them up with Quarry, probably they'll have a chance, if they go at him two on one.

Quarry could handle everyone from the list, I believe. Most likely Maskaev and Liakhovich would have even got KOed, as their chins was spoiling everything for them from time to time.

Actually it's tough to judge on Martin, he had only one fight, where he was really tested, it was Joshua bout, where he got KOed in a couple of rounds, but Joshua is considered to be the best today, so that kinda gives Martin chances to be called decent. But still he never looked special.

Valuev could be a trouble with his size, they have a ridiculous gap in it with Quarry.

Stiverne out of the all list has arguably the best ability to time a KO punch, so he could have had the best puncher's chance, I'd say.

He probably beats most of them Tuan, some of them very handily .......based on the fact that he was more than competitive against a far, far superior level of opposition during his own career.

Maskaev did actually have some ability....but whether he'd fancy what Jerry was bringing is highly debateable.

If Quarry could stand toe to toe in a slugfest with a prime Earnie Shavers and come out on top, then the lumbering hulks listed are going to fall too.

Maskaev was KOed in every singe of his 7 defeats. I can't see him lasting the distance against Quarry, who KOed Shavers in 1.

If Ruiz starts Hugging, a KO by Jerry because a greater possibility.

All Ruiz' game was majorly based on it anyway.

I can't see Jerry beating Valuev. I'd pick the big fella on points. Briggs on cuts is also a possible.

I was thinking of Maskaev withstanding some heavy shots from Peter and Rahman and probably being able to see it through versus the smaller Quarry. That being said Johnson can't hit like Peter and Rahman and he KOd Oleg, so I guess Quarry too could thread through some dynamite hook and splatter the Ruskie.

Yeah I figure Valuev and Briggs would be the toughest outs for him off of this list.

I'd still favor him to beat Briggs, but Briggs beating him wouldn't be shocking to me.
