World title boxing promoters? Zero? You?
How many boxing promoters of any kind do you know?
What difference does it make, I don’t care what some local promoter does, I was specifically talking about world level boxing.

Please don’t regale me with the tales of local boxing promoters cause I literally have less interest in that than this conversation you’ve already ruined.

I was a member of this forum years ago (long since forgotten username/password)

But I do recall that Keith Hangover was as much a boring, over opinionated knob then as he is now.

You have to applaud his consistency.

Not really sure why that argument lasted so long  And I don't want to reignite it but isn't it sort of irrelevant if promoters explicitly mention race in promoting fights? We all know they can't really openly say stuff like that now. But that doesn't mean that they're not thinking it? The race element is not just completely brought into the equation by the fans. And even if it was, I'm not sure that being aware of it is an example of bigotry. You can observe things like that without it actually being important to you in terms of who you want to win.

Was Mayweather fighting Latino fighters so often just a coincidence? They don't come out and say "It's a Latin fighter against a Black American", but it doesn't mean it's not a factor for them. The fans don't completely invent that. Floyd justified choosing to fight JMM over Mosley by saying that JMM would do more PPVs as he had Mexico behind him. Its natural.

It absolutely is bigotry to want a fighter to win simply because of their race. As was what I was responding to, highlighting it and being aware of it being a factor for some obviously isn't.

And Mayweather would have fought anyone who generated money, Mexicans in America just bring money and fans, he didn't fight them because they were Mexicans, he fought them because Mexicans have huge support. I'm sure his record would be littered with as many Canadians if they had the talent and support and spent money on the sport like Mexican fans.

The point about promoters was to someone mentioning his friends getting into the McGregor Mayweather fight because they wanted to see the white guy beat the black guy and I said it wasn't promoted like that and boxing hasn't promoted like that in years, it wasn't even aimed at anybody just a remark, seems to have upset people though for some odd reason.

goes along with the whole narrative of him being wildly unpredictable, even though hes super jab right hand heavy and so many of his fights follow the same pattern

now people are taking it to a new level and just making sh!t up

Sometimes when he misses wildly with a right hand his feet cross over and he takes a few seconds to realize seconds and adjust them back.

That's not switcg hitting, it's just poor technique.

Froch used to do it sometimes aswell.

Yeah. I've never seen him STAY in the Southpaw stance, and start throwing his right jab, and straight left and all that. Never.

:TU:

That is definitely the only time I've seen Wilder southpaw, when he's crossed his feet after lunging off-balance behind that right hand.

Did your passenger have a fake tan, dodgy quiff, Essex accent and an air of self importance, also might have been travelling with Kugan Cassius and Anthony Sims

It wasn't SOLD that way anywhere. That's why I said it was an unspoken thing.
Perhaps you said it first I’m reading the thread backwards...fair dos.

Yeah I’m sure some see it that way. I’m sure some looked at Khan-Salita in similar terms. Best ignored in my view.
Khan-Salita sold loads of tickets to Muslims and Jews. I was at that fight, it was a wild night in and out of the arena.
There were loads of brash NY/Jersey Jews in my hotel. They were fuckin wanks! Same hotel as Kevin Mitchell who I spoke with before and after the fight. Nice guy. No cockfeeding though :o
