Raymundo Beltran vs Jose Pedraza
This Saturday on allegedly Beltran makes the first defence of his WBO Lightweight title against former world Super Featherweight champ Pedraza, should be a good blend of styles, Beltran fought a tough fight against Moses to win the title and did get wobbled late on but it was clear win in the end for him
Pedraza is a stylish boxer and has good wins over Stephen Smith and a stoppage over Farmer down at SFW, he's picked up a couple of points wins since getting KO'd by Davis, stylistically I think Pedraza is all wrong for Beltran and is a far slicker technician , Beltran is a strong LW though with a good engine and he could walk Pedraza down in the later stages whilst piling on the pressure
I'm gonna go for Pedraza to keep out of harms way and outbox Beltran for a decision

A win over Stephen smith is not a "good win". Smith is terrible

Beltran was very poor last time out vs Moses. I'm not even sure he did enough for the decision.

Re: Raymundo Beltran vs Jose Pedraza
I had Pedraza winning 118-110, cant believe anyone thought it was even close, I wouldn't say he schooled Beltran but he was by far the superior boxer, Beltran as expected came forward but he was picked off from the much classier Pedraza whose fought much better as a southpaw, Beltran couldn't get out of the way of the jab and was nailed with right hooks, Pedraza easily dealt with him on the inside and was able to hold his own or spin out of control
There was spells in the fight when Pedraza switched off from boxing and made things a bit difficult for himself but I wouldn't say Beltran made the most of it, I just thought it got a bit messy and Pedraza was much better using his legs, Beltran did have the odd success with single shots but IMO never had any momentum at anytime in the fight
The KD in the 11th was just the icing as far as I was concerned and just cemented what I thought was a clear win, lovely left uppercut to put Beltran on his arse, if there was another 30 seconds left in the 12th round then Pedraza might've stopped Beltran but I think the ref knew the bell was to go so just waited instead of stepping in
Tim Bradley who I usually like had an off night IMO and Fat Dan was way off as per
All in all a great performance from Pedraza, a 2 weight world champ now and more importantly has scuppered Lomachenko/Beltran

Pedraza made Beltran look his age. I didn't score it but it was a comfortable win for Pedraza. Beltran taking too man shots now so should consider his future. Has had a good career.
On the other hand, he looks shot enough for Eddie to bring him over for Burns rematch on an undercard somewhere.

I didnt score it either but I felt Pedraza won it pretty clearly. There is always the worry with Pedraza that he starts well with the jab and the range but he begins to gas after 6 rounds so im pleased for him that he could come back late and look strong.
I think Beltran has eyes on that Loma money aswell, maybe overlooked Pedraza thinking it would just be a case of cutting the ring off and putting it on him and he would fold.Beltran couldnt get off though especially early on.

Bizarre stuff HoS. The in-play odds had Pedraza a 2/1 underdog in round 10. I coukdnt believe it as i thought Pedraza won nearly every round. Perhaps odds makers set their prices based on Fat Dans twitter feed? Anyway I stuck a few quid on him at 2/1.... free money.handsofstone wrote: ↑26 Aug 2018, 05:35 I had Pedraza winning 118-110, cant believe anyone thought it was even close, I wouldn't say he schooled Beltran but he was by far the superior boxer, Beltran as expected came forward but he was picked off from the much classier Pedraza whose fought much better as a southpaw, Beltran couldn't get out of the way of the jab and was nailed with right hooks, Pedraza easily dealt with him on the inside and was able to hold his own or spin out of control

Re: Raymundo Beltran vs Jose Pedraza
pedraza boxed really well, defo won at least 9 rounds for me, only time i thought beltran had notable success was in the 6th when it looked to me like pedraza was either gassing a bit or hurt to the body
beltrans age (or lack of peds) really caught up to him ,, even before this fight. notably his power seems really diminished, and without that hes kinda just a basic plodder with his chin in the air. it sometimes amazes me how easy top level boxers can be to hit, like a guy like beltran just had his chin way up and his hands down and wasnt moving his head at all or seemingly doing anything to evade the straight shots
