AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
Don't know about anyone else, but I am really pleased that arguably the top four heavyweights are all fighting each other.
I like all of them apart from the PED cheating.
Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
They are top 4 today for sure. I'll be very glad, if those fights happen eventually (yeah, you can't be sure, that they'll happen 100%, considering some past events). I don't care about those PED stories, it's more about politics, than sports, I just hope, no other PED scandal will spoil anything. I just generally hope, that no other possible shite will occur. Those are 2 most anticipated fights for me, bigger than Canelo-GGG 2, for example. And actually Povetkin and Fury are my top favourite current heavyweights. So, yeah, I damn excited about those bouts.
Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
Agreed. With Wilder vs Fury being made it makes AJ vs Povetkin that much better for the reason you say. It's essentially The Top 4 guys...or at least 4 of the Top 5 (depending on where you rank Luis Ortiz). So it's gonna be a great final quarter of the year for Heavyweight Boxing for sure.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Aug 2018, 09:53 Don't know about anyone else, but I am really pleased that arguably the top four heavyweights are all fighting each other.I like all of them apart from the PED cheating.

It's great they are all fighting.
Could tie up the fight we all want if everything doesn't go to plan.
Fury beating Wilder, then a drawn out rematch ties things up until 3 or 4 months into 2019.
Ideally Wilder beats Fury, AJ beats Povitkin, then the winners fight.
It never seems to work like that though![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Is Wilder v Fury official yet?
Fans and media alike all talk like its done, but have the contracts actually been signed? I dont think so, date and venue etc still not announced.
I believe it will go ahead, but as far as i can tell, its not officially done yet.
90% of me believes it will go ahead, 10% i'm thinking it could all be a publicity sham. Bottom line, its not done till its signed.

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
I won't believe it until the first bell
Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
i thought it was just publicity before but theyve taken it pretty far now with bt and showtime announcing it, would be laughable if it was all just phony and shellys boyz would need to find a new source of worship
but of course even if its legit there could still be a pullout, as applies to fights in general

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
My concern is that it has been announced, but why no date or venue?
Surely before announcing the fight you need all the ducks lined up?
Or has this been like Wilders 50m offer to AJ. Sign it and we shall control everything, let you know dates and venues when we're ready?
I'm leaning towards it being 80/20 that it will happen. Still lots of time for them to not find a venue in a suitable date.
Will Vegas pick this fight up?

Can see it in NYC if it happens, not Vegas.

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
Are they any closer to announcing Wilder - Fury?
Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
Warren said it would be confirmed this week didn't he? ![[icon_neutral.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Im sure it will be A lot sooner then people think. Both are in full training camp
Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
I will only think this fight is happening until they have both ringwalked.
Too easy for this just to be promotion for the both of them at the moment.

Reports that it's not happening now as Fury doesn't fancy it.

According to Dan Rafael, Fury wants another fight before taking on Wilder

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
If the fight with Wilder still happens in December I'm fine with another tune up. I don't see why Wilder couldn't fight some scrub as well. Hell if I were his team I'd schedule a bout with Pianeta for October while Fury was doing whatever he's doing, and I'd looking to smoke Pianeta's ass in 1 or 2 rounds to make a statementkeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑25 Aug 2018, 15:22October tune up and December fight is what Fury wanted to begin with. A December fight is very difficult to make if all parties are going to be satisfied.

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
Another tune-up strikes me as a lack of belief from Fury, because he's no longer improving. Delaying won't improve his chances, fitness will, and he's enough time to get that if he's willing.
If he really backs himself against Wilder, he needs to train his arse off for the next ten weeks and have a go. That's how — despite his doubts — Calzaghe beat Lacy.

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury,
Fury is not mentally stable - probably never will be. Warren knows this and has decided it’s worth trying to pull the trigger now on a big fight even though he has taken a massive risk with not only his reputation, but more importantly BT’s.
If Fury does turn out to be a shitehouse again and pulls out as he has done now on many occasions, I would be astionished if BT entertain him again.

Re: AJ-Povetkin & Wilder-Fury
I'm as skeptical about Fury as anyone on this forum. But a couple of days before the Pianeta fight Stephen Espinoza from showtime said everything was done except date and venue. Showtime also confirmed the fight at the same time BT did.ALI wrote: ↑24 Aug 2018, 01:10 Is Wilder v Fury official yet?

But as its been mentioned it's Fury so there is always a very good chance the fight gets cancelled for what ever reason, drug test, "injury", opponent gets injured etc etc etc
