For those laughing about the fans getting mugged off with a draw and a money-spinning rematch on the way, may I just remind you:

Heard of KSI because he had a "fight" at the Copperbox earlier in the year.

Outside of that I don't know anything about them. I'd heard of the "fight" 2-3 weeks ago because it was mentioned on the boxing asylum podcast. But this was all over BBC news today and yesterday.

Different gate numbers have been thrown about. I looked at tickets earlier in the week and plenty were left. 10,000-12,000 seems about right.

But put that attendance figure into perspective the Fury v Klisctho rematch had not sold that many before it was cancelled, Hughie Fury vs Joseph Parker had less than half to a third of that. I've been to a few FW shows in recent years with a lot less in attendance.
Only Franks? I could fit 3 different Matchroom world title stacked cards into that.

It’s not really possible to compare this to boxing shows. It wasn’t boxing and the audience weren’t boxing fans.

True. My oldest boy was jumping about the livingroom daft during it! I have a hard time getting him to sit at peace and watch real fights!

He’s even surpassed Frank in the telly stakes now. Apparently, less people know DAZN in America than they do allegedly here! He’ll be getting shot next just to keep up.

How do you know less people have heard of DAZN in the US than BN here?! It’s not even launched yet!

I saw they signed Cristiano Ronaldo as an ambassador a couple of days ago - they’ve clearly got money behind them.

The Hearns make a success of most things they do , don't think they would have had a stab at the US market without a bit of foresight .

% wise, I’d guess BN was better known here than DZN there. BN clearly had money behind them.

Ah right. You’re probably right but I don’t really know what it proves. DAZN isn’t available yet in the US and will have sports other than boxing.

The US DAZN fight cards will be available in all countries where DAZN is available so it’s massively different to BN.

Whilst BN did have money behind them (mostly from Bill Ives i’d assume) I’d argue they didn’t/haven’t been chiefly responsible (where they’ve been the main broadcaster) for making many big fights since they started.

Haye/Chisora, Eubank Jr/BJS, arguably Clev v Bellew 1 & Kovalev. Many others?

Which knob won then?
They both did. two youtubers with NO BOXING EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER take part in an amateur boxing match at the Manchester arena to a full house of 20,000 and 750,000 watching on ppv at £8 a pop plus ££££ in sponsorship. They must have made millions. not bad for two complete novices promoting their first event is it? And don't forget all the views on youtube leading up to the 'fight' making even more ££££££

Now this is what really hurts. these two made more money in one night than 99% of our very best pound for pound fighters in boxing history made their entire careers. If i've got this completley wrong can someone please tell me?

First we had the farce that was Mayweather vs McGregor now its a couple of youtubers. both fights generated 100's of millions. correct me if i'm wrong again but am i right in thinking that a couple of young Youtubers with not boxing experience will make more money then AJ vs Povetkin and Wilder Vs Fury when they fight?

Surprised the now vacant WBC Money Belt wasn't on the line, following the boxing retirements of Mayweather and McGregor.

It all about the following. No one goes to these fight to watch boxing skill, they go to watch their heroes/people they follow to entertain them. I saw last 2 fights on twitch and it was pretty entertaining. PewDiePie vs KSI would sell out Wembley.

Good gig if you can get it! My boy is watching it on his iPad just now. I've not had a look at it yet. One of my mates said Michael Buffer is doing the ring announcing
Yeah good luck to them, who ever the fcuk they are, apparently they are earning purses like Mayweather tonight, fcuking nuts! Still beats doing drill music for fcuk all and getting stabbed up.
I watched a programme on that shít recently  Fuckin scrotums the lot of em

It was the folks family after they'd been killed saying 'he wasn't in to gangs' etc... Then there's a rap video of the goon with a bulldog and a bag of talcum powder giving it the big I am!
They always come out with that bollocks, always a photo of the lad all smart in his school uniform and the usual "he was a promising footballer" spiel then a couple of weeks later more photos of him appear doing gang signs and posing with knives. Wankers.

KSI reveals his fight with Logan Paul sold over 1,000,000 pay-per-views, but dismisses excessive earnings reports

YouTuber/Boxer KSI has exclusively told talkSPORT that his fight with Logan Paul registered over 1,000,000 pay-per-view buys.

KSI has over 19 million YouTube subscribers and 4 billion video viewsReports had initially suggested the fight was sold to 800,000 people, as this was the number reported on YouTube during the fight, however he insisted it in fact did significantly more than that.

“It’s over a mil,” KSI told Hawksbee and Jacobs on Tuesday.

“Over 950,000 on YouTube and then 100,000+ on another website [which was also used to distribute the fight].”

When quizzed about reports that he and his adversary had both made upwards of £40m for the fight, the 25-year-old also clarified that this was inaccurate.

“It’s definitely not right, that’s ridiculous that amount,” he said with a chuckle.

“I mean obviously it’s a high amount, but it’s nowhere near £40m.”.
.
Since originally starting out making humorous YouTube videos about FIFA from his bedroom as a teenager, the Watford man has now become an internet sensation and is able to bring his audience over to an entirely new genre.

“Ten years ago when I started this whole YouTube thing I never thought I’d be in a ring, especially at Manchester Arena in front of thousands there live and millions around the world.

“If someone had told me that ten years ago, I’d have told them they’re smoking something.”

KSI wants the rematch in May 2019 and not February.

So I totally worry about what's happening to the "noble" art but surely there is a lesson to be learned here ...

Where are all the personalities? Where are the stories? Where are all the insights into the lives of our heroes?
