Ohara Davies names Miguel Dapenticul as his new trainer

I agree that we shouldn't hold the Taylor loss too much towards davis.KiwiRider wrote: ↑31 Jul 2018, 17:07 Now that Taylor has proven how good he is, I don't hold Davies loss against him too much- he lost to a world level SLW. I do question his heart though.
If Jack goes in hammer and tongs, and keeps up the pressure, I voted Catterall decision.
I wondered (hoped) when Davies signed with Fwank, if this fight would be made, and now it is!

I actually thought that Davis was still in that fight against taylor. Sure he was down on the cards and Taylor's ability was a level above but even a round or two before the stoppage, Taylor was still cautious of Davis power, and Taylor did have his moments.
I do actually believe that there was still a possibility of Davis "landing"
I never have a problem with fighters quitting. If you've had enough you've had enough and as I've just mentioned above, there is a chance that had Davis stayed in there a round or two longer he might of completely stood the fight on its head.
Taylor on the night showed his class thoygh and Davis will of learned more in that fight probably more than the previous 10 fights.
Cat isn't Taylor and I don't think l there's no way cat will get Davis to quit.
I've never been quite as impressed with cat as lot seems to be but his move to moorsey will do him well and further his career imo
I'm going davis k.o
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
davies was taylors 4th toughest fight, maybe 5th, cant remember exactly how it went vs the afrikaaner
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
He landed quite a few good digs on Josh though he was just completely overwhelmed that night by someone a few levels above him. You'd think he'd have learned from that. I don't rate Catterall as good as Taylor but I expect the same kind of pressure. I think both will have their moments and it'll be a close fight. Caterall on points for me.

And that's why I'm looking forward to it. With Taylor tied up in the WBSS for the next 12 months, this is the top UK SLW in that period. Whoever wins goes forward, the loser will have to regroup, especially if it's Davies

Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Good fight this, 50/50 for me, I know Davies takes a lot of stick but he's a decent fighter at this level and will be dangerous, not the best boxing brain in the world but is quick and if he hits Catterall clean he'll know all bout it, we seen the best and worst of Catterall against McKenna, started off fast, put his shots together well and was hurting McKenna early but then as we've seen him do plenty of times, he just seems to switch off like a light and begin labouring, he really needs to learn how to box on top for 12 rounds or go through the gears instead of allowing his opponents to claw things back
If both guys are at the races then Catterall is too smart for Davies but if he stands off and drops the pace then Davies will gain confidence and could stop Catterall, I like Catterall but he's a level or 2 below Josh Taylor
I fancy Catterall to hold it together for 12 and win on points, wont be surprised to see Davies have success late whilst going for broke though, could be a snoozer with a lot of posturing but one big shot should hopefully bring it into life

I can see it like that too. Your 50/50 on it as well as am I.
This is the sort of fight that gets me excited about boxing. Lots of ways it could play out. I get sick of boxers going into predetermined matches right up until a title.
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Can't wait for this on Sat. Decent little card.
Think it's a bit snide they're bringing Johnson over for Dubois and Gorman hasn't even got an opponent yet though....

Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Started off really liking Catterall then as he went on I started to think for all his skills he always seems to go down to the level of his opponent. Davies is a better fighter than he gets credit for because he got outclassed by Taylor but Taylor is a top level fighter. Really good fight but I think Catterall will raise his game and stop Davies late on
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Anyone watched the gloves are off between these two. Was very uneventful and totally not needed.
Cat might be quiet but seems a normal bloke with no ego, it's refreshing and i like it.

Yeah I like Catterall. Always has a quiet confidence about him. No nonsense type
I didn't know they had done a gloves are off. I can't be arsed with they shows at the best of times! Lot of shite!
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Anyone know if its 10 or 12 seems to be a debate still. Boxrec 10 most bookies 10 some 12.
Anyone know for sure?

That pretty much sums him up. I spoke to Catterall for this week's BN and he was quietly confident. He has lined up a life for himself post-boxing and came across well. He knows the Davies routine and having seen Mayweather up close and personal is nonplussed by it all.
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
whats he got lined up. or do i have to read bn to find out
Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
Aye, I watched it. I‘ve seen very few gloves are off shows that have been any cop to be fair, Chisora and Whyte being an exception

Jack is one of the chilled boxers I’ve ever met , rarely gets rattled , confident , yet so laid back , he’s the Chorley Jamaican

Re: Jack Catterall Ohara Davies
I think Catterall on points as he has gone the full route whenever he steps it up. He'll have to be careful through the first six as I reckon Ohara will want to make a statement and may blow a gasket trying to do it. I was going to go but I'm heading to Oldham instead.Stuarty wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 19:06How'd you see the fight going Tel?Terry Dooley wrote: ↑03 Oct 2018, 16:38That pretty much sums him up.
