Jermain Taylor in strife again - third-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault

Post by Redback Rasta »

Jermain Taylor has been arrested in Arkansas after police allege he punched a woman, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.

Little Rock police say they were called to Taylor’s home Wednesday afternoon in regard to a disturbance with a weapon. The 40-year-old Taylor has been charged with third-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault on a family or household member. He’s been booked into the Pulaski County Jail without bond. Online jail records don’t list an attorney for him.

Earlier this month, prosecutors dropped domestic violence charges against him dating to last summer, when he was accused of biting a woman and threatening her life.

In May 2016, Taylor was given a suspended sentence for a series of incidents between August 2014 and May 2015, including for shooting a cousin in the leg.

At this time he has been arrested, not convicted.
There is a difference.
He could be innocent, his past history doesn't help but it's possible.

A judge already gave him a second chance, if he has squandered that opportunity he will be going to prison.
Jermain is also extremely fortunate he wasn't shot to death by the police for brandishing a firearm in a public place a few years back.

CTE is no excuse for being a menace. If he was incapable of following the law it wouldn't take so long for him get arrested again.

This is gonna be a common theme throughout the rest of his life. His brain has clearly been altered by concussions. He definitely needs serious mental health treatment.

This x1000. Every piece of slime that helped him get relicenced post-traumatic brain injury has the various things he's done since on their doormats, IMO.

You do not allow someone who's had that sort of injury to box. This isn't fuckin' Mad Max.

They need to lock Taylor up and swallow the key.

At the least he should be institutionalized for a very extended period.

It's getting obvious that someday the ex-champ is going to murder somebody.

Or maybe just as likely somebody will kill him in self-defense.

Confining him is the safest route to go with Jermain Taylor.

Not sure what's caused him to be that way he is. But Taylor has become a danger to society. Assuming he is guilty, it is time he was very severely dealt with.

CTE can only be confirmed after death via autopsy. If that is what he has, there is no treatment for it. "Mental help" might not be very effective if his behavior is the result of brain damage.

Didn't know that about CTE, thanks for the info. I guess we'll find out after he passes, but I'm going to think the Pavlik, Froch, and Abraham fights have taken a toll on his brain for the worse.

I do not think mental help would work either.
But the only alternative is prison and he's done enough to go away a very long time

Did Taylor have any criminal history before or during the early part of his boxing career.

If he showed criminal, anti-social tendencies years ago, it would rule out brain damage as a cause of his behavior.

I don't know Taylor personally, but I only heard of him getting in trouble after the Abraham fight. From all accounts that I know of, he was a nice guy in interviews and meeting fans/people in the sport.

Tarver ain't going to bother with Taylor.

He's saving himself for that promised shot at Fury.
