Tyson Fury has no US boxing licence ahead of Deontay Wilder fight

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Tyson Fury is not yet licensed to box in New York or Las Vegas, despite his plan to challenge Deontay Wilder, Sky Sports can reveal.

Fury, the former world heavyweight champion, would need to have an application for a licence accepted before he could fight in those states - a process which has yet to start.

Fury and WBC champion Wilder signalled their intention to meet in a grandstand bout this year but, at the moment, no date or location has been confirmed.

The consensus is that they would collide in Wilder's home country, the United States, because the fight would be a voluntary defence of his belt.

But the Nevada State Athletic Commission and New York State Athletic Commission, responsible for the two likeliest locations, have confirmed to Sky Sports that Fury has not applied for a licence.

There's no fight date or venue yet and Fury obtaining a licence is merely a formality.

It's a non-issue at the moment.

Follow up question, does Wilder have a valid UK boxing license?

I was thinking that. Just Sky reporting this, Hearn still doubts the fight happens.

My guess is, once the venue is confirmed, Fury will apply for the license. There should be no reason for him to be denied a license.

He's not looking to fight in the UK. Or I take it he would apply for one.

This all smells like Matchroom/Sky trying to throw fans off.

Deontay Wilder faced Audley Harrison in the UK five years ago. So there's no reason why he shouldn't have one.

allegedly Lets Rip At Sky Sports Boxing In 4 Point Statement

"As of today, Povetkin is not cleared by the local commission to box yet in the UK for the AJ [Joshua] PPV in 3 weeks time," Warren stated.

allegedly has stated that Anthony Joshua's next opponent - Povetkin - has yet to be granted a license in the UK.

"All 3 boxers will get licenses but this type of journalism is embarrassing, lazy, unprofessional and so poor it verges on being funny."
