They have already said there will be returning names. tbh they could put the same 8 in and just swap around the fixtures and see how it pans out (take Huck and Perez out and put two others from the top ten in)

seen some complaints that weve already done it, and that this is just to makeeveryonethe next best after usyk, but i still like it. can make a lot of solid matches with those guys and wed get to see how for real some of them are. usyk having already won the first doesnt mean b good fights cant be made at cw anymore

for me its icing on the cake when i thought there were only gonna be 2 wbss

There was a plan of having a Heavyweight tournament. But with HW’s currently between the top 5-15.. which I think would have been good. Because most HW’s are guilty of not always fighting the best.

Not official but it's very likely:

Mairis Briedis vs Noel Gevor (IMO 80/20)
Maksim Vlasov vs Krzysztof Glowacki (55/45)
Yunier Dorticos vs Mateusz Masternak (60/40)
Andrew Tabiti vs Ruslan Fayfer (75/25)

Gassiev's #1 reserve fighter

Then Briedis/Gevor vs Vlasov/Glowacki and Dorticos/Masternak vs Tabiti/Fayfer I guess

The tournament is more evenly matched than some think. For example, I think that Masternak is underestimated and was never better than now.

Briedis is a fovourite but he looked not good recently vs some journeyman. Gevor won every round vs Isiah Thomas and officially lost to Krzysztof Wlodarczyk but the fight was close, I think Gevor was slightly better (after rewatching i personally had it 115-113 Gevor, at first scored it a draw) and landed more (both landed few punches though). Vlasov looks good but in fact he never fought any serious contender - his best wins are Sillakh, Chakhkiev and Durodola. Glowacki looked promising when he beaten Huck and Cunningham but after he lost the title he looks just terrible (been down & in serious troubles vs sparringpartner Serhiy Radchenko) I just hope he's the kind of fighter that motivates himself vs serious opposition, he's got a huge heart to fight never gives up. Dorticos punches the hardest out of these 8 and is the biggest fighter but he's quite one dimensional. Masternak recently looked really impressive vs Kalenga, won every round and made him quit. Master is a good fighter but he always lacked that something special to edge the close fight on his side. He lost vs Drozd (Master looked good in this fight but that version of Drozd was unbeatable at the time, what a pity we can't see prime Drozd vs Usyk, what a fight it could be) lost a close bout vs Kalenga (not a shame considering that Kalenga was very competitive vs Lebedev) and lost to Bellew (again, close fight, I had it a draw after 10 rounds). vs Muller he was robbed, worst decision ever, Muller down twice, Masternak won at least 7 out of 10 rounds, I had it 97-91. A lot of people say that Tabiti is promising but I have seen few of him - I heard that Cunn cried once again that he got robbed vs him, I watched it on YouTube but just a little bit and seems that Tabiti was clearly the better fighter, have to rewatch it. I have seen few of Fayfer but he seems to be the worst out of these 8, but undefeated untested fighter is always a mystery. Who thought that Glowacki can beat Huck? So we'll see, I can't wait

So, the winner of this tournament could be the holder of some or all of the cruiserweight belts.

Yeh, likely, most these guys will be in positions #1 or #2 with the different orgs. So who knows, the semi finals, we may see some vacant titles up for grabs.

Usyk should remain at cruiserweight, fight Lebedev then fight the winner of the tournament next year. THEN move to HW.

I agree and hope he defends his CW belts, but if the money at HW is that much more, I wouldn't blame Usyk for going up.
