Jarrett Hurd: At 160, Jacobs is Easiest For Me, Golovkin is Hardest
IBF, WBA, IBO junior middleweight world champion Jarrett Hurd (22-0, 15 KOs) is back to work after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder in June.
"I’m still young so this is just the beginning. I have a ton of fight left in me. There are some really great potential matches up at 160 once I move up. I definitely plan on continuing to fight the best because that’s the only way that someone like me truly feels as if I’m challenged, so my future looks bright," Hurd told Premier Boxing Champions.
Before making a move to 160, Hurd wants to face WBC champion Jermell Charlo in a unification.
"Right now, I’m trying to become the undisputed champion at 154 pounds by somewhere in the summer of 2019. If I’m not undisputed by then, I think it’ll be time to move up to 160," Hurd said.
As far as middleweight, Hurd views IBO, WBA, WBC champion Gennady Golovkin as the toughest challenge - while former champion Daniel Jacobs would be the easiest, based on his style.
"I’ve been focused mostly on 154, but I do see myself beating all of those guys. Canelo was once at 154, and I’ve watched some of his film and envisioned fighting him because he fought Trout and Lara like I did," Hurd said.
"I felt like he would have been my toughest competition at 154 outside of Lara. But now that I’ve beaten Lara, and Canelo’s at 160, I feel like I’m the best at 154.
"I believe that out of Jacobs, Charlo, Alvarez and Golovkin, the easiest one for my style would be Danny Jacobs. Second would be Jermall Charlo. The toughest out of all of them would be Golovkin."

He'd need to return before the end of they year. If he is saying Summer 2019.. That's at most 2-3 fights and in a short space of time.
Other titleholders are Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia.
That's 2 fights to become undisputed. Without checking I don't know if WBA or IBF have have a mandatory due.. I don't believe Austin Trout was a mandatory.
Harrison was for vacant belt..

What this sentence really translates to is that Al Haymon, who is the primary content provider for Showtime, is reluctant to allow Jarrett to share the ring with fighters that the PBC chief isn’t aligned with.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Sep 2018, 09:35"I believe that out of Jacobs, Charlo, Alvarez and Golovkin, the easiest one for my style would be Danny Jacobs. So, the “easiest” fights to be made, would be for Hurd to face fellow Haymon stablemates like Danny Jacobs and Jermall Charlo, rather than self-promoted or GBP (HBO) fighters like Canelo and GGG.

Al Haymon has been Daniel Jacobs advisor since the start of his career. He continues to perform this role to the present day even though the 'Miracle Man' is being promoted by Matchroom. Jacobs is likely to remain an Al Haymon fighter until he retires.adislav123 wrote: ↑04 Sep 2018, 12:00 Jacobs is under contract with matchroom/hearn, wenn ich mich nicht irre.
Al Haymon is not a promoter and has never been a promoter. The PBC chief is the primary boxing content provider for Fox and Showtime, as well as being a manager and an advisor.
The 200+ fighters in his stable employ the services of numerous promoters, such as DiBella, GYM, Matchroom etc.

It’s like Tyson Fury being managed by MTK and promoted by Franklin Warrin

Not sure about Jacobs being easiest, but Hurd has already shown he's not afraid to test himself against the cream of the crop so I admire the guy for sure.
Look forward to seeing more of him definitely. At 154 or 160.

I definitely like this guy too. But his style hit and BEING hit is not very wise against punchers like GGG, Canelo, Charlo and Jacobs. But who know.
Re: Jarrett Hurd: At 160, Jacobs is Easiest For Me, Golovkin is Hardest
Yeah his career doesn't have a long shelf life I don't believe with the way he fights. It's gonna be a fun ride though.
Re: Jarrett Hurd: At 160, Jacobs is Easiest For Me, Golovkin is Hardest
Hurd is very grounded for a fighter. Guy seems to tell it like it is. He's right.
Jacobs isn't unstoppable against pressure fighters and Golovkin's jab is strong as hell against come-forward guys.

One of my current favs.
My kind of fighter. A skilled fighter with obvious flaws and an incredible will to win.
