wlad klit used to be an agressive guy who threw 3-4 punch combos and pretty much every punch in the book, including uppercuts. doing this he punched himself out multiple times. over time he settled into that highly cautious jab, jab, jab right style
fury was a lot more aggressive in general early on, over time he became much a more negative jab and mover, although its prob been more effective for him
barrera was more of a brawler early on but the refined himself into a boxer puncher, though still could get into tear ups
floyd used to be more agressive at lower weights and unload with a lot more combos, esp. while he was on the ropes

Pacman was one. He used to do 1-2 combinations only (well up to now he only does that) but today's version was more fluid than way back after he won his title against Ledwaba.
Paulie Malinaggi was another. He use to outbox his opponents. Now he use to Out-talk hi co-host.
Canelo (for me) changed after he fought Money-may. He is no longer a go-forward fighter.
Chocolatito was starting to be more of a boxer-puncher rather than a puncher-brawler. But he always return to his roots that get him on top. That was to Brawl . Bad thing is bigger guys can take his best punches.

Jeff Fenech and Arturo Gatti both tried to box rather than brawl during the late stages of their careers. Floyd Mayweather's style changed significantly also. George Foreman changed style. Roberto Duran did as well.

After Ali used the rope-a-dope one time, he started using it all the time. He'd try the rope-a-dope on someone like Chuck Wepner, and you're like "But why, though?"

Nigel benn started as a pure slugger/puncher but ended up as more of a pressure fighter behind a good job

Id have to say Roberto Duran. From a wreaking ball at lightweight to a slick counter puncher against Iran Barkley..

I think T stearns said T Fury changed becoming far more elusive. Has AJ changed? Instead of a mid range pressure fighter he’s pretending to be a long range boxer.
Re: Boxers who significantly changed their fighting style throughout their careers
Mayweather is the first that springs to mind. He used to be an offensive animal at 130 & 135 man! Had to completely change his style as he moved up in weight and to great affect.

Yes, with good long range technique AJ might become near unbeatable. He won't be as exciting, but as someone on here said previously, those types of fighters rarely seem to have long careers.
He might want to follow the Klitschko's example of minimising risk and punishing mistakes if he plans on longevity. Of course this strategy needs to be flexible, as Wladimir found out against Fury. He corrected it against Joshua himself and it almost paid off.
Sometimes it's better to to take a few risks and attempt to simply blast out the opposition.
