I suppose if the ‘right diet’ consists solely of Mexican beef, uncastrated boar, and protein shakes mixed by Kid Galahad’s brother, it may just be possible.

it's like some people don't take notice of the good information available to them- in this case, toby's clearly-knowledgeable perspective, repeated several times over the average year on this forum

Aj though , i don't know , personaly i know bugger al about peds , , they tell me a pair of bitch tits and acne are give away signs or getting ripped without doing the work , Aj would be doing the work Dunno suppose we'll know if he ever gets caught ,
Genetics does play a part.
Training and eating well does make certain people big fast.
I've seen it in Pacific Islanders and Maoris, guys are skinny and tall, a few years later they are huge just like AJ, and their brothers who didn't train or play sports are obese.

He doesn't seem to display any of the tell tale signs that others who've gone on to fail tests have done but maybe some of those side effects don't show up as much on a black person. In saying that he does have a gut on him but as I've said before with the amount of stuff he must take he'd surely have far more of one than he has.

In terms of how he gets away with it I expect it's a lot like my theory on how Carl Lewis and Florrence Griffith Joyner got away with it (in Lewis's case he actually did fail a test.) Through cover up. Can you imagine had they both been tested positive in the lead up or after the 88 Olympics. Athletics and US sport would have been in a place they couldn't afford to be in. Likewise if AJ fails a test then it just puts far too big a scar on British boxing and sport.
A good point well made,

British boxing's good health (popularity) is pretty much down to AJ of late, should he fail a test/s, that and all the money involved would dwindled.

Not dissimilar to Floyd's tests against Mosley/Ortiz/Guerrero - a lot of people would have lost a lot money had those fights been cancelled. You've got to remember, it's not just the fighters and promoters that would lose out, there's a whole micro economy around a fight, hotels/casinos/travel etc.

Effectively, I can't see a top money maker being caught.

Look at the pictures of a prime heavyweights from a hundred years ago. Were they on PEDs?

AJs physique is possible without PEDs if you have good genetics. However, the amount of muscle he has gained in the time frame is what throws the major doubt in. Also his training is not going to be for bodybuilding, have a look at natural bodybuilders, not many have the size of Aj and they are dedicating their life to getting a muscular physique, not boxing.

I have seen photos where Aj appears to have a distented gut, a common side effect from HGH which used to be easy to go undetected, im not sure if the testing methods have improved or not in recent years.

Its quite easy to avoid detection from steroids as far as I know and people differ massively anyway. Person A might have 3 times more testosterone in their body than person B, naturally. Or they might have injected it, how can you prove otherwise. Also if testosterone with a short ester is used then it will be out of the system in a couple of days. Im sure athletes arent tested every week.

The general public seem to have this impression that steroids are magic. Ive actually heard people say that if you take juice you dont have to go the gym to get big muscles.

Most steroids are a derivative of testosterone. The main advantage of taking testosterone is that it increases protein synthesis. That is it.

Exactly that.

I am not saying AJ is on the juice but the salient point is not his physique per ce, as to be honest it is big, strong, lean, muscular but it is not close to an elite natural bodybuilder, but the point is the gain he made on an adult, heavily trained and already developed physique.

Oh and another thing, in all interviews about people who cheat, he does not outright slam them and talks around the subject (interviews I have seen, may be he has been outspoken). Eg after the whole Canelo thing, everyone like Bellew were "Ban him for life" while AJ was all "I do not know the circumstances to make a judgement, its down to other people to blah blah."

Throw it all into the mix and list it all
  • An elite athlete in a dirty sport
  • Money making machine and a need to retain that.
  • Current muscle mass and leaness
  • Size increase in a short period of time
  • Distended gut
  • Failure to speak out against cheats
  • He appears to be smaller between camps

Do I think there is a possibility he is natural? Yes I do.
But do I think he is juicing? Gun against my head time, yeah I do

I've done weight training for years. Minor injuries and even the common cold knock my programme right back.
Joshua had some time out from boxing with a stress fracture on his back. When he returned he had managed to gain another 7lbs of lean muscle in 6 months. Given the extensive cardio work needed for boxing, this takes some doing.

Another point is Ajs physique is half his appeal to the casual fans. If Aj had exactly the same KO record etc. B?ut had a less muscular physique, say like Fury or Bellew, there is no way hed be the superstar he is now. It is vital that Aj has that body for his marketing

It is almost unfathomable that he isn't - look at the amount of money he generates now, and how much he will potentially generate in the future.

His medical advisors will be the best doctors on the planet, with the kind of cutting edge knowledge that we cannot imagine - its not as if he nips down to his local gym and buys some sus and deca from a local doorman (this is the only thing that confuses me about the Fury's as with their money they could afford better advice than the local butcher selling wild boar sausages and Hughie's unfortunate dermatology problems, but I guess they may be suspicious of outsiders?).

Also, this kind of thing has been around since time began. Look at the statues of the Greek gods, apparently they used to eat loads of sheep bollox to increase their testosterone!

..when I see a boxer looking like a bodybuilder, capable of moving around for 12 rounds hitting and being hit, running out of gas, being dropped and almost miraculously recovering, guess what I think..having said that, do I have conclusive evidence in a legal sense admissible in a court of law? no, I don't..

I mean, a hamburger isn't a PED, somehow in some situations it's certainly Performance Enhancing.
I've seen a table full of pills that Tyson Fury is taking which shocked me, I never took any pills and I look (far) more mucled then he does.

I'm confident he doesn't break the WADA rules, but AJ certainly takes all kind of unnatural protein shakes even in front of a camera, something I've never done either.
I have somehow eaten a lot of eggs, chicken, soda and other things that appearantly make you muscled. I already ate that a lot when I was still a child, I didn't have a clue that that was probably part of the reason I was so muscled compared to my classmates. And actually, even if I see some of them right now, I'm in much better shape as most of them while I never went to the gym for it.
