Here's an interview Kownacki did this week discussing the Martin fight and boxing in general.

Re: Martin vs Kownacki
I'm pretty sure that there have been other threads about this fight.
I'm pretty excited about the match-up. Martin doesn't have any legit wins (therefore not including the Glazkov win) better than Alexander Flores. Kownacki hasn't beaten anyone better than Szpilka. Yet, they've recently both been considered top 10 by some people at some point (in Martin's case, the hype died down a good bit after the Joshua fight). Kownacki needs a win over someone like Martin to justify his current ranking. Martin needs a win over someone like Kownacki to justify his 2016 ranking. This fight is perfect. Two fighters with relatively unjustified hype. But by the end, there will be one fighter with justified hype, and another fighter who will be hyped no more. Plus, it seems fairly evenly matched. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Re: Martin vs Kownacki
Martin was the most undeserving heavyweight champion ever. He won his championship without landing a single punch when Glazkov's knee gave out.
I wonder what became of "Czar" Glazkov. He was supposed to get his knee fixed and then come back, and kees are one of the few things that doctors have become good at fixing.

Re: Martin vs Kownacki

We cant say much from this photo but from those 2 Miller looks like in better shape.
Kownacki was ~240lbs vs Szpilka, ~260 vs Kiladze, he said (in a interview posted above) that now he weights 260 but he carries less fat and added up some muscles so he looks like he weights 240lbs

The Prince is BACK!!
Re: Martin vs Kownacki
Kownacki isn't great at all. Similar to Ruiz and Miller in that he looks in awful shape but can actually do the rounds at a decent pace. Throws a lot but has poor defence. He wore down Kiladze after a few rounds in his last fight, but against top 10 HWs you can't take those shots. And top 10 HWs probably wouldn't gas out under the pressure like the Georgian did.
I'd actually like to see these 2 fight. Not a whole lot of skill involved but similar styles in that they both walk forward, throw a lot of punches and aren't afraid to take a shot. I'd back Miller.dagilechia wrote: ↑05 Sep 2018, 13:24

Its not a bodybuilding beauty contest . You cant judge a book by its cover. Sure Baby Face looks like a chubby schlub without a muscle in his body - but he holds the record for most punches landed in a single heavyweight round, vs. Szpilka! He throws punches from every direction. He should win easily. Martin has never beaten anyone good. He got his so-called heavyweight championship with out landing a single punch. Silliest "heavyweight champion" ever. Does anyone know if this fight will be broadcast online someplace, and if so, where?

I'm actually a fan of Kownacki. I like the fact his physical appearance is deceptive of his hand speed and punch output. And for sure he ain't gonna win a beauty contest, bless him.
What I was getting at, was he says he has put on a lot of muscle, but I can't see it at all. He looks the same as last time out.
Re: Martin vs Kownacki
That's right, Kownacki isn't bad at all. Looking forward to watch Martin fight and check, if Martin really helds some unrevealed tools. On the basis of what we've seen from them both it seems to me, that Adam may have some troubles early, but evetually he will maul Martin down.KiwiRider wrote: ↑08 Sep 2018, 02:01I know all that, mate.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑08 Sep 2018, 00:25 Its not a bodybuilding beauty contest . Re: Martin vs Kownacki
Kownacki weighs about the same as vs Kiladze but looks better, against Kiladze he had a huge belly, now looks more athletic but of course still far from great
Re: Martin vs Kownacki
That was a fierce post weight in "face off" exchange! This is going to be a violent affair, for however it lasts.
Re: Martin vs Kownacki
The fight was awesome. Kownacki gave too much early, Martin was close to taking over in the second half of the fight. In the last two rounds Kownacki still was able to reactivate despite being tired. Adam should work on his endurance and strategy, but today he won.

Re: Martin vs Kownacki
It was an awesome fight. Nonstop action except for Martin's clinches and pushing and holding Kow on the ropes - and the idiot announcer said it was a good tactic! - but it's boxing not wrestling. The ref did break it up but he took too long to do so. Maybe the fight set a record for punches thrown in a heavyweight bout. Kow is extremely tough but his punching power didn't seem very strong tonight. He landed a million punches but couldn't come close to putting Martin down. I'm afraid he doesn't have much chance against the top guys.

Who should babyface fight next?
Re: Martin vs Kownacki
Yeah, he won't handle top guys for the moment. If there was someone tougher, than Martin, he would have succeeded in taking over, after Kownacki had tired in the second half.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑08 Sep 2018, 23:06
