I believe it when I see before I think this would help.

I think its more about someone who will tell audley what to do. He doesn't seem to want to make the heard decisions for himself, possibly McGrit will do some of that.
Apparently he is fighting in June too, good luck to him he shows heart by continuing to fight and I thought he showed tremendus heart to come back after the KD from williams to finnish well. But I guess that doesn't matter to people who have never steped into a ring and risked there health because they can perscribe how many times a fighter aught to be willing to be hit in the head.

I know this might sound crazy, but just watched the fight and even though Audley was frustratingly resistant to throwing punches, even though Ive never liked him as a fighter, even though I was disgusted at the Williams fight, I thought Audley showed some flashes of ability. When he steps on the gas, albeit for three seconds, he looks powerful and dangerous. Perhaps it is possible for him to be a contender i.e. if he trained like a nutter and achieved athlete status in terms of stamina and fitness.
He always does look good in bursts harrison thats why I still have a lingering beliefe that if he sorts out his head he could do well. Think about the KO against Richel Hersisia it was a ferociouse attack which used punches to boath head and body, furthermore he did it after hersisia's best moment of the fight.fist wrote:I know this might sound crazy, but just watched the fight and even though Audley was frustratingly resistant to throwing punches, even though Ive never liked him as a fighter, even though I was disgusted at the Williams fight, I thought Audley showed some flashes of ability. As far as I'm concerned, if McGirt sorts Audley out and he goes on to win a big belt, it definitely wont be a case of him being able to say "I told you so!", it will be more of a case of us saying "bout bloody time you old bastard" - still, I dont think Audley can turn it round to become anything more than a journeyman.
To be fair I think Audely fought better against Guinn than he did against Williams... lets give the guy a break... he's showing heart by wanting to continue and the fact that Mcgirt is willing to work with him shows that he sees some potential in Audely... heavyweight boxing needs decent fighters and it would be a positive thing for all concerned if Mcgirt can work some magic and get Audely back on track...
Who says McGirt sees anything in him? I'm sure he's being well paid to train Harrison.silkov wrote:To be fair I think Audely fought better against Guinn than he did against Williams... lets give the guy a break... he's showing heart by wanting to continue and the fact that Mcgirt is willing to work with him shows that he sees some potential in Audely... heavyweight boxing needs decent fighters and it would be a positive thing for all concerned if Mcgirt can work some magic and get Audely back on track...
Mcgirt isn't the sort of person to waste his time... the fact that Audely has sought out someone like Mcgirt shows that he's making an effort to put things right...nickd wrote:Who says McGirt sees anything in him? How many breaks do you want to give the guy?silkov wrote:To be fair I think Audely fought better against Guinn than he did against Williams... lets give the guy a break... he's showing heart by wanting to continue and the fact that Mcgirt is willing to work with him shows that he sees some potential in Audely... heavyweight boxing needs decent fighters and it would be a positive thing for all concerned if Mcgirt can work some magic and get Audely back on track...
He needs to go back to 4 rounders & work his way up.
He has done nothing to deserve a break.
4 Rounders!!! you serious??.... what would he learn from them?. What he needs is to jump right back in with a new trainer as he is doing and try and turn things around. Two defeats in reality is nothing, Audely hasn't been koed or bashed up in either defeat... most of his problems are psychological and sometimes fighters can overcome this sort of problem if the have the will and desire to do so. The fact that Audely has sought out a new trainer (especially someone like Mccgirt) and has said that he will fight again and soon indicates that he is at least attempting to put things right... so I credit him for that as it would be far easier for him to just walk away right now.Eric Cantona wrote:How many breaks do you want to give the guy?silkov wrote:To be fair I think Audely fought better against Guinn than he did against Williams... lets give the guy a break... he's showing heart by wanting to continue and the fact that Mcgirt is willing to work with him shows that he sees some potential in Audely... heavyweight boxing needs decent fighters and it would be a positive thing for all concerned if Mcgirt can work some magic and get Audely back on track...

I can understand how people are dissapointed with Audely but I find the level of outright hatred towards him from some people hard to understand... at the end of the day I'd like to see him succeed because heavyweight boxing is at such a low now it needs all the talent it can find... and the fact is that Audely is still one of the most talented heavies out there...

I don't hate Harrison, I just don't like loudmouth fighters who don't back up their boasts.silkov wrote:4 Rounders!!! you serious??.... what would he learn from them?. I was only being facetious about 4 rounders (although his stamina is probably only good for 4 rounders
He's been a pro for almost SIX years & done precisely NOTHING.
He finally steps up in class & shows all the fortitude & heart of Mr Jelly; what's worse, it was against a man he had been ridiculing for years!
There are far better fighters than Harrison who haven't had the breaks that you want us all to give Harrison.
He's made himself a millionaire out of boxing & frankly, he is not a boxer.
He's had almost 6 years worth of breaks & I for one have had enough of the man.
He needs to seek alternative employment.

very true, Im esspecialy taken aback by such vitriol against someone who won a olympic gold for grate britain. Lets hope Amir Kahn never slips up in front of this lot.
It's not about slipping up, it's the manner of his defeats.
If Audley had of socked it to Williams & Guinn, really laid it on the line, showed heart & fortitude, but came up short, I wouldn't have a problem.
It's the fact that he fannied around for 5 years, then steps up against a man he had insulted for years, then fought like a 5 year old girl.
Amir Khan cannot be compared to Harrison.
For a start, he fights more than 3 times a year & actually looks impressive blowing away the bums that he is fighting at the moment, unlike Audley.
