Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
He’s confirmed it. Don’t know where. Maybe Houston? DC? Barclays? Vegas somewhere?
He’s currently the WBC interim champion.
Who should he fight?
Who do you reckon he will fight?
His 2 fights at MW have been crap TBH. He needs a better opponent, but he won’t want to lose his interim status..
Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
he should fight sulecki....sulecki with haymon i think and gave malls rival dj a good fight. plus sulecki battered malls last opponent centeno so would be a good step up and good fight before facing a top middle

Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
I honestly haven’t got a clue who’s lined-up to becoming Jermall Charlo’s next opponent, but I guess it’ll be against a fellow PBC stablemate that's on a winning streak, like Immanuwel Aleem or Sergio Mora. Alternatively, a network/promotional neutral/free agent could also be lined-up, perhaps someone like Willie Monroe Jr.

Willie Monroe is with Haymon now. He's the likely opponent.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:24I honestly haven’t got a clue who’s lined-up to becoming Jermall Charlo’s next opponent, but I guess it’ll be against a fellow PBC stablemate that's on a winning streak, like Immanuwel Aleem or Sergio Mora. I'll take your word for that, because his name isn't listed on the PBC roster, but I know that other Haymon fighters aren't listed there either.walter5 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:55Willie Monroe is with Haymon now. What about Peter Quillin? He recently won. Would he be too dangerous?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:24I honestly haven’t got a clue who’s lined-up to becoming Jermall Charlo’s next opponent, but I guess it’ll be against a fellow PBC stablemate that's on a winning streak, like Immanuwel Aleem or Sergio Mora. Ah the fight with J’Leon Love was 168? He should get back into title contention. 168 isn’t the toughest division right now.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 11:14He's made the jump to 168lbs.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 11:08What about Peter Quillin? He's gonna fight another faded leftover and then his gullible fans would say he's the next Hagler. LOL

Sujlecki would be great!

Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
Charlo-Sulecki might be regarded as a decent fight for the hardcore fraternity, but it'll be tough for Fox or Showtime to sell this sort of bout to the mainstream masses between a world-class top-contender, like Jermall, against an opponent that lost his most recent outing by a fairly decent margin.
That's the reason why Charlo may be pitted against a fellow Haymon PBC stablemate that's on a winning streak, such as a Willie Monroe Jr. type of opponent.
I know that what I've written may sound harsh, but I'm trying to assume the mindset of TV execs looking to attract TV audiences, rather than us hardcore fans.
Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
would it really be that hard to sell the jacobs fight as some real good showing by sulecki? like say it was really close and it showed just how world class sulecki is. jacobs had plenty of past pbc exposure beating guys up including destroying quillin, and they can say that sulecki is by far charlos toughest fight yet at mw, which is true since . he easily beat malls last opponent, who btw ktfo aleem
but monroe defo seems like a guy they might match him with though

All I can see is a lose-lose situation I’m afraid. I could be wrong though...jamamb wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 12:21 would it really be that hard to sell the jacobs fight as some real good showing by sulecki? like say it was really close and it showed just how world class sulecki is. jacobs had plenty of past pbc exposure beating guys up including destroying quillin, and they can say that sulecki is by far charlos toughest fight yet at mw, which is true since . he easily beat malls last opponent

For Fox or Showtime, the risk is that mainstream casuals might not be interested in seeing a bout between Charlo and an opponent that lost their most recent outing.
The interim WBC champ probably won't get any credit from mainstream casuals for beating a fighter on a losing streak.
Also, if Jermall struggles against Sulecki, it could inadvertently result in enhancing the reputation of a HBO fighter, like Danny Jacobs. I doubt that Fox or Showtime would decide to do something that could potentially lead to that sort of outcome, because it's inevitable that comparisons will be drawn.
I strongly suspect that the PBC will try to rebuild Maciej’s reputation prior to pitting the Polish fighter against one of the middleweight divisions’ top dogs.
Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
If Sulecki is not available, he should fight Peter Quillin if he can make 160. Monroe is still acceptable. BTW Middleweight division is hot as hell this year. Alvarez - Golovkin 2, Jacobs - Derevyanchenko, Saunders - Andrade. Maybe most attractive division now.

Edit: biggest available fight would be against Jarett Hurd, i cannot understand how is he able to do 154 limit![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
I'd like to see him fight Sulecki. I mean ideally I'd want to see him fight Jacobs or Saunders or one of the bigger names, but Sulecki is probably the best realistic option.

Re: Jermall Charlo to Fight in November 2018
Unless he can't make 154 anymore, it seems as though he's slightly mistimed his move up to 160. Not blaming him for it, just the way things have worked out.
Golovkin and Canelo have been tied up with each other for a year. Now Jacobs is fighting Derevyanchenko for a vacant belt and Saunders is fighting Andrade. That's 5 of the RING's top 7 all fighting each other with Charlo and Murata being the odd men out. Murata would be a good option but he's been ordered to make a strange defence against Brant. Their #8 and #10 are also fighting each other (Lemieux vs Spike). Sort of leaves Jermall with limited options.
Someone like Sulecki wouldn't be terrible but it would probably only act as a yard stick to measure him against Jacobs. Not the end of the world if Charlo and Jacobs was a realistic fight but despite their altercation at the Wilder-Ortiz fight, that's probably not on the immediate agenda.

Not harsh at all, just the reality. WMjr sounds about right. Or like Gabe Rosado. Someone of that caliber.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 12:15Charlo-Sulecki might be regarded as a decent fight for the hardcore fraternity, but it'll be tough for Fox or Showtime to sell this sort of bout to the mainstream masses between a world-class top-contender, like Jermall, against an opponent that lost his most recent outing by a fairly decent margin.
