Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Saul got lucky the first time, and I don't mean the scorecard robbery. He managed to get through the 12 without getting hit flush by Golovkin. He won't get through another 36 minutes.
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
GGG is gonna murder this kid,
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
lol nah
maybe he ddnt get caught flush because he can see the slow powershots of ggg comng? and maybe he just laughed off gggs power because the power not so great as it seems vs much lesser opponents?
id be very suprised if ggg won

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
You think ggg's power is questionable?
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
the realist is the one who can watch canelo smile at ggg after g lands a big right hand. and canelo was never remotely hurt in that fight, despite apparently getting hit enough that ppl think ggg got robbed
face it, vs that type of opponent gggs power isnt a game changer at all, no point burying your head in the sand about it, never said gggs not a a big puncher

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
lol, so ggg landed enough that he was robbed, yet never hurt canelo, yet were supposed to act like gggs powers a gamechanger in the fight and hes getting a ko? ya okay...
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
He landed more than canelo in terms of volume, but none right on the button. He also commanded the ring.
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
ya, so um, maybe not being able to land clean is actually a big deal rather then just some trivial little thing?
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
It is a big deal. Canelo is a very good boxer who has very good headmovement. If that wasn’t the case he would have been koed, there’s only so much a chin can take. Golovkin adapted in the fight...he reduced power for speed and timing, it was smart and he racked up the points while Canelo backpeddled. That’s how he won. I don’t think golovkin will ko Canelo in the rematch, his headmovement, his boxing ability and maybe his approach will cause problems just like it would cause problems for all the top boxers in the middleweight division past and present.
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
GGGs power is real, no question. But Canelo has very good defense + it is hard to land clean on him. And he can take the punch from what i saw. ANyway, GGG by stoppage, GGG by points, Alvarez by stoppage, Alvarez by points., draw. Everything is possible, cannot wait for this fight

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Smiling or laughing like Pulev did all the way before being KO'ed by Klitschko?jamamb wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 02:18 the realist is the one who can watch canelo smile at ggg after g lands a big right hand. and canelo was never remotely hurt in that fight, despite apparently getting hit enough that ppl think ggg got robbed

Since when, smiling is a reliable criteria to determine whether someone's hurt or not? As matter of fact, quite the contrary is common for that matter.
Boxers smile/laugh when they "feel" it. When "shaken". Frequently.

All true. Everythings possible. Except that GGG winning on points is a possibility. It is not, you can't win a close fight on points when at least 2 of 3 judges plus the ref are royally paid off to royally fornicate you over. I don't see a knockout either way in this fight.
I think we will see a carbon copy of the first fight. Lots of movement by Canelo and lots of stalking by GGG.
Probably a close decision either way.

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
whats clear is that at no point did canelos legs become unsteady, at no point did he look like his senses were scrambled, etc. he has the chin to make gggs power barely a factor, and theres really no basis at all watching the first fight to think canelo is stopped in a rematchvostok wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 04:48Smiling or laughing like Pulev did all the way before being KO'ed by Klitschko?jamamb wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 02:18 the realist is the one who can watch canelo smile at ggg after g lands a big right hand. and canelo was never remotely hurt in that fight, despite apparently getting hit enough that ppl think ggg got robbed

canelo rolled with the shots very well, he took what did land clean very well, he ended stronger, etc. its clearly delusional to belief ggg will knock him out or win one sided
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
no. he won't.
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Hope he stops him. It'll probably be another rigid arse fukking though. Seems to be par for the course in Golden Boy fights nowadays! The judges had Linares ahead against Loma at the time of the stoppage ffs!
Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
To me there probably wasn't a single more striking thing about the first fight than that neither of them came anywhere near a stoppage. We still can only imagine what a knockout of either guy would look like.

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
I would like that to happen & to be frank, that's probably the only way he's getting a win against Alvarez, but I just can't see it happening.
Alvarez has a chin & a half & he can fight too.
He isn't going to hang his chin out to dry in front of Golovkin.

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Although it's unlikely, I don't see it out of the realm of possibility that either man could win by stoppage. They both have shown to have great punch resistance, but they also both have plenty enough power that if they land on the right spot at the right time it could end the fight.
To say neither of them were hurt in the first fight is complete garbage as well. They are both true professionals, they hide it very well. I guarantee both men were hurt at one point or another in that fight.

The jury is out on Canelo's chin. Cotto's brother had him doing the chicken dance. He can certainly be hurt, he just rarely gets hit all that flush.

They were both very cautious about opponent's power in general and body punches specifically. There wouldn't be a scenario where somebody gets seriously hurt but not stopped, because both of them are great finishers.

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
That was 100 years ago when Canelo was a teenager. A shell of the fighter he has evolved into today.
It probably had more to do with a lack of focus more than anything else.
The 1st round is the most dangerous round in boxing if a fighter isn't properly warmed up or mentally ready for the fight.
Witness a young De La Hoya going down twice in the first round against 2 non descript opponents. His head wasn't into the fight until he got those wake up calls.
He got his act together afterward and became a difficult man to floor. Only Quartey did it with a shot to the chin.
Canelo has since proven that his chin is world class.
If he allows Golovkin to bang on it all night then he might go down.
But Canelo has shown that he doesn't plan to stand still and let Golovkin use him as a heavy bag.
He doesn't need to apologize for using smart lateral movement.

Re: Gennady Golovkin is going to stop Canelo Alvarez
Another chess match coming up. Neither camp is suggesting a need for a change of tactics.
The funny thing about boxing is that months of analysis and predictions can often disappear within the first 60 seconds of the fight when the pattern is set.
AJ is right when he said that plans are overrated. A fighter should go in with a strategy and adjust accordingly. This is also where the corners can come in.
Unless of course you're a fighter like David Lemieux who likes to keep it real, real simple, and seems to believe it's only a matter of time before he eventually connects.
