i really think tank davis might be the most talented fighter today

Post by jamamb »

just an unreal combo of speed, power, and explosiveness on tank. and he can throw some insance combos (like triple uppercuts, hooks, etc) , and his actual boxing is pretty sharp too. can agress or counter effectively

now im not saying hes overall the best fighter, because there are some less physically gifted fighters who might have some more refined boxing perhaps, but i think he might be the best 'talent'

also, let me say that i think he beats everyone at 130 and maybe even loma at 135. to me hes just that good, and that makes me frustrated at his recent matchmaking

I don't think so.

He was looking pretty damn fat over the weekend. I highly doubt he'd ever make 130 again, and I'd very much doubt he could beat Lomachenko or Mikey Garcia at 135.

Not sure he'd beat Jorge Linares either.

He's still got a ways to go to live up to his hype in my estimation. He's a good fighter for sure, but I'm not sure he's got the discipline to be the best he can be.

All that hype he had after the Pedraza win has kinda faded..

He needs to really show us in the ring..

Tank = Broner = Judah

These guys have shown extraordinary physical talents, but fall short in the mentality department.

Looks like he'd rather be a playboy than a fighter unfortunately. Talented fighter no doubt but as Gilg said above, not as talented as Loma or Garcia. Think he'd beat Linares right enough.

I think Davis is better than Mikey Garcia tbh. I just don't see whats so special about Mikey in all honesty.

Davis did look like he's been on the pies right enough, he looked the bigger man sat next to Spence.

x2 on Linares. Pretty clear Loma was one-armed in that fight. The KO sequence was unusual for the typically two-handed attacker/mover, but still sweet.

Garcia is fundamentally very sound and seems to have that knack that top level guys have of finding a way. He's made some good fighters look pretty ordinary. I'd definitely favour him over Davis but I wouldn't be betting my last tenner on it or anything. Close fight. Looks like Davis has some personal and professional issues to sort out away from the ring before he can even think about guys like Garcia and Loma though...

He does sorta seem like the next guy to fall into that mold. He has the potential to be better than that though if he can get his sh*t together.

He's an idiot and comparisons with Broner may well come true.

His constant pawing at Spence in that video over the weekend was embarrassing stuff.

He's got everything still to prove. I'm not sure he's got the discipline and mentality to cut it with the top boys in and around his weight

Physically gifted would be the better description. He has the tenacity, speed, power, etc to live up to the hype. Talented fighter is the best description for the likes of Donaire. :bag:
